About this activity
After you’re picked up early in the morning from your Kota Kinabalu city hotel, depart north by coach toward the Tip of Borneo, situated on the Kudat Peninsula. En route, stop in the town of Kota Belud where you can walk around and observe the locals conducting their daily activities as your guide offers insightful commentary on their lifestyle.

Learn about the Bajau people, originally an indigenous seafaring group from the Philippines who now make their living as farmers and cattle ranchers, earning them the alias ‘cowboys of the east.’ Discover how these skilled horsemen are especially adept at sword making.

On Sundays, a colorful and vibrant open-air market called Tamu is held. If you’re in town at this time, mingle amid the vendors selling local products, from foodstuffs to livestock and handicrafts.

Hop back aboard the coach and continue your journey further, with a stop at Kampung Gombizau to learn about the process of bee farming and honey harvesting. Visit a traditional Rungus longhouse and admire the unique structure made primarily of wood and bamboo. Hear your guide share information about the Rungus people, one of Sabah’s ethnic groups that still holds proudly to its cultural traditions, including elegantly crafted beadwork and ornamental items.

After a traditional lunch at the longhouse, your journey takes you to Tanjung Simpang Mengayau, aka the Tip of Borneo. Drive through a picturesque landscape until reaching the headland, and stand mesmerized by the captivating views of the South China Sea as you realize you’re at the northernmost edge of the world’s third largest island.

Snap scenic photos and return to your coach, arriving back at your hotel in Kota Kinabalu in the late afternoon.
