North Borneo Steam Train with Tiffin Lunch from Kota Kinabalu

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby at approximately 9:30-10am. From here you will depart for the North Borneo Steam Train tour.

The North Borneo Railway offers you an opportunity to experience the bygone era of British North Borneo while transporting you along the lifeline of Sabah. Refurbished to recreate the nostalgic feeling of what it was like while traveling by steam train in the days of the Chartered Company and the British Colonial Office, the exterior and interior of the steam locomotive train provide an environment that would have been typical of stepping onto a train in the 1900s.

On board, the locomotive takes you on a scenic countryside seeing to the first stop of Kinarut Town, to visit the Tien Shi Temple that is known for its fine statues. Proceeding further down on the to Papar, visit the local wet market and the shop houses at Papar Town passing by some paddy fields, river and villagers along the way. A traditional ‘Tiffin’ colonial lunch will be served on board while enjoying the countryside view out from your seat.
