The Biogradska Gora National Park is located in the central part of the mountain range of Bjelasica, between the Tara River and Lima. The largest part of the Park makes rainforest reserves (covers an area of 1600 hectares and is one of the last three in Europe), in the basins of Biogradska riva and Jezerštica and is one of the oldest protected areas in the world (since 1878), known as Knjažev "Banned" or "brick". The age of individual rainforest trees has been estimated over 500 years, some of which are over 60m high. The rolling lake is surrounded by a fantastic rainforest. Those who love hajking can even better experience this paradise for photographers. Really beautiful national reserve with marked trails, picnic areas and benches. Very well maintained. "
In the heart of the rainforest, there is the beautiful Biogradsko jezero, the largest and most famous in a series of glacial lakes in the national park area. In the clear lakeside waters, all the beauty of the ancient woods is reflected, giving it a light green color and making the landscape so impressive.The National Park is a candidate for an area of involvement in the World Natural Heritage and the international ecological program "Čovek and Biosphere".
