About this activity
This tour will take you from Krakow to one of the oldest and most picturesque tourist attractions in southern Poland: the Dunajec River Gorge and Tatra Mountains.
The Dunajec runs through the Pieniny Mountains in the south of Poland and the north of Slovakia (as Dunajec is the border river between the two countries in the area). The gorge is characterized by some of the most interesting geological structures and area-specific natural ecosystems with little anthropocentric influence. It is featured on UNESCO's Tentative List of World Heritage Sites in Poland.
Wooden raft trips have been organized daily since the early 19th century, when customers consisted mostly of guests of nearby Niedzica and Czorsztyn castles. The trip begins in the village of Sromowce Wyżne-Kąty, and ends in the resort town of Szczawnica, 18 km downstream. The whole journey takes about 2–3 hours.
After rafting you will go for the lunch at a local restaurant then continue on to Zakopane, where you will be taken by a rail car to admire the Tatra Mountains from the peak of Gubalowka. At the end the tour will eventually arrive in Krupowki at the center of Zakopane from where You depart to Krakow
