The concentration camp in Auschwitz was established by German Nazis on the outskirts of the town Oswiecim in 1940. After the war, the camp was turned into museum displaying evidence of the genocide. Block no. 11, known as the Death Block, was where people were murdered also at the “Wall of Death”. Outside the camp, there is a gas chamber, where 70,000 people were killed in 1940-1943. A film made after the liberation of the camp is shown in various language version in the museum. The tour itself was very thought-provoking, a place everyone should visit but it really is harrowing at times. In terms of the organisation, very pleased - picked up on time, convenient location, fully escorted - everything as promised.

Picked up from meeting point on time in an an air conditioned minibus with English speaking guide. Walked round everywhere at quite a fast pace to get everything in.very good tour and easy to follow guide.make sure you take water and snacks in small bag and if you take a large bag you can leave that on minibus. would recommend this trip and is a very interesting day.

A sobering trip. Our guide was excellent, extremely knowledgeable and spoke very good English. Auschwitz was very busy when we visited be we felt we had sufficient time there. It was a very hot day (31 degrees) which made it very tiring. Be warned, whilst there is shade in Auschwitz there is no shade in Birkenau so take a hat and an umbrella would be a good idea. There was virtually no time for refreshments partly because there was rather a scramble for the best seats on the minibus which was rather cramped and the best air con was at the front.

Words cannot sum up the sights and story that emerge when entering Auschwitz...its a must visit but be prepared for shocking tales and stories...more so as all true and in the recent past

We were unsure as whether or not to do the visit with a tour company or on our own. As we had only a short time in krakow we decided on viator. We could not fault the the organisation. The transport was on time, the driver very helpful and the tour guide very informative. On the day we visited it was exceptionally busy as it was a bank holiday. In hindsight would have preferred to go at a quieter time. Would recommend that tickets are booked in advance as they aren't always available on the day. It's quite a long day and you are not allowed to eat on either of the sites, but if you take a sandwich you are able to eat whilst transferring between sites.
