Itinerary

Stop At: Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau, ul. Wiezniow Oswiecimia 20 Entrance to the Museum is located at Stanisławy Leszczyńskiej Str. no. 11, Oswiecim 32-603 Poland

The Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Oświęcim, less than 70 km from Krakow, lies on the grounds of the former Nazi German concentration camp. The main camp KL Auschwitz was created in the mid-1940s, in the nearby suburbs of Oswiecim. A year later the German Nazis established the second part of the camp Auschwitz (II) - Birkenau which became the largest extermination centre for European Jews. It is the most recognizable symbol of the Holocaust and human genocide in the world. The Memorial Site is an area of almost 200 ha, over 150 buildings, and about 300 ruins, including remains of gas chambers and crematoria destroyed by the Germans. The trip includes permanent exhibitions, original buildings of the main Auschwitz camp and the most important buildings of the Auschwitz (II) - Birkenau camp.

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Wieliczka Salt Mine, Jana Mikolaja Danilowicza 10, Wieliczka 32-020 Poland

We predict a long break about 60 to 90 minutes for lunch. In the winter, from November to the end of February, this break is reduced to about 30-45 minutes due to the mine closing earlier. Depending on the order of the visits the lunch break can be in the town of Wieliczka near the Salt Mine, or near the Auschwitz Museum in Oświęcim.

The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the most recognizable tourist attractions in Poland. About 1 million tourists visit every year. The origins of the mine date back to the Middle Ages. In the 16th century, the Wieliczka Salt Mine was the most profitable enterprise in Europe. Profits from salt extraction in the times of Casimir the Great constituted 30% of the entire kingdom's income. Visiting Wieliczka takes about two and a half hours.

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Camp Birkenau Historical Gate, Miejsce Pamięci i Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau, 32-600 Oświęcim, Poland

In the tour option Wieliczka Salt Mine & Birkenau you will skip the entrance to the Auschwitz I Museum for an extended visit of the Auschwitz II Birkenau death camp. You will have about 2h to explore the original buildings and different exhibitions. You can use the guidebook as a map to plan your visit and choose what you wish to see. Among others, you can visit the Birkenau ramp, the crematoria ruins, prisoner living barracks, and the prisoners' sauna where you can observe the personal photographs of the people that perished in the gas chambers.

Duration: 2 hours

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the tour and were very impressed with how it was organised. Communication throughout was excellent, the pick up and drop of point was ideal and the tours themselves were wonderful.

This is a full on tour with plenty of driving and 11 hours on the go but we'll worth it. Our guides at the salt mine and Auschwitz camps were top notch and I'd thoroughly recommend this tour.

Things we had only ever saw on television were brought into stark reality. Very emotional and somber.

The communication from our tour operator was very good and the day before, as expected, we received an email letting us know the pick up time. It was quite late considering what we expected and it meant a longer day than anticipated, finally returning to the hotel about 8.45pm. Overall the tour was very well organised and although we were initially only a small group, we met up with a larger party when we got there. The guide was very knowledgable and so was the driver Mariusz who was also a guide (when not driving). There was no glossing over the awfulness of what happened at the camps, but it was handled beautifully. Would highly recommend this tour.

The tour itself was organized well. Pick up and drop off went on with ease. The tour guides were informative and easy to understand. The only thing we didn't prefer was the long break between the two stops. This was not avoidable since the tickets were timed and we had to wait for admission entrance. Overall,we found this much better then trying to go on our own accord.

Our driver/guide was very knowledgeable and did a great job! The tour moved at a good pace and I did not feel rushed. We had time to have a nice lunch between sites. Our guide gave the tour of Auschwitz and did an excellent job. The stories and facts provided gave all a great understanding of the atrocities committed there.

There is no other way to describe it - impressive. Highly recommended, both sites, the mines and the camps. A long but very well planned day.

To begin with, we waited 40min outside of our hotel in the rain before the driver came to pick us up. Reserved a "guided tour" however there was no guiding, the "driver" and not a "guide" droped us and did not give us any further information. The organization was terrible, as he gave us 45min to eat at a restuarant, he made us leave before the food even arrived. Let's not talk about the fact that we did not even see the entire Auschwitz site. We are so desapointed, we don't recommend. The entire car was shocked.

This is a long day but well worth it, the salt mines were breathtaking with so much more to see than tunnels...the underground architecture is a sight to behold. The most though provoking visit I have ever had in my life, I can not put into words how I felt after visiting Auchwits. The guides on both tours were great and very helpful and informative. The guide on the coach was more of a chaperone than a guide.

I was in Krakow for only 2 days and wanted to see both the Salt Mines and Auschwitz and was excited that there was an option to do both in one day. The pickup, transportation, and drop off were all smooth. The guide I had at Auschwitz was informative and made the narrative truly come alive. I didn't expect much from the Salt Mines, but that portion was great as well. The only downside was that I thought we would have free time to have lunch and pick out own food option, but the bus just dropped us off at a restaurant and told us to eat there, which was fine but would have wanted to choose my own food option. Overall, I'd recommend this tour for anyone traveling to Krakow!

The pickup place and time was good, but the exact pick up location could be a bit clearer? The driver was on time for the pickup. The driver was good, careful and polite. The tour guides at the salt mine and Auschwitz where great.

Sorry but I have used Viator in other countries around the world but this is the first time that I have had to give such a negative review. This review is rated purely on the service of the company who drove us from each site. At the mine and Ashwitz we were led by the tour guides in situ who were both extremely knowledgeable and who gave us a very in depth tour much recommended. When it comes to the company who picked us up and ferried us from each of the sites I can only say that I am extremely disappointed. Our driver Lucas was extremely eratic and by no means was he competent to drive but even worse was the fact that he used explicit language in front of my daughters for which I cannot forgive..........

Overall the day was excellent and both tour visits were very good with professional guides. We really enjoyed the day, however it was spoilt by the fact that although 4 drop off points for the end of the tour are advertised, only one was made available on the day. The driver was rude to us when we asked to be taken to a different drop off point

Our driver was excellent. She gave us a thorough understanding of how the tour would be. She highlighted that we would be nearly 12 hrs on the tour and looked after us throughout. 5 people in total on our tour. Tour itself was excellent and harrowing as you would expect. One area for improvement is that directions for pick up for Starowisina 63 and Wielopole 2 were the same so there was a little confusion at the pick up point.

The salt mines are beautiful, Auschwitz is harrowing but an important experience. Mark Marek was our driver and was excellent, informative and courteous. The price is fair and I'd recommend this trip to anyone visiting Krakow.
