About this activity
Learn the real-life story behind the Steven Spielberg movie

Schindler’s List on a guided 1.5 hour tour of the Schindler Factory Museum. Spielberg’s great contribution was to present to the world one of the most moving and incredible stories related to World War II. More than 1,000 Jews in Krakow owe their lives to a single person: Oskar Schindler.

Schindler's Factory Museum opened its doors to the public in June 2010, after years of meticulous preparation. Located in the original Oskar Schindler Enameled Goods Factory, you will be taken back step-by-step, learning the history of World War II in Krakow from the beginning until the arrival of the Soviet Army in 1945.

Walk through rooms filled with memories of Oskar Schindler, and see the permanent exhibition 'Kraków Under Nazi Occupation 1939-1945.' Learn the story of Kraków and its inhabitants, both Polish and Jewish, starting with the events that took place a month before the war. Hear about the first months of Nazi occupation, all the way up to the history of Krakow's Ghetto and the Płaszów Concentration Camp.

Next, go to the rooms dedicated to the story of Oskar Schindler and the 1,200 Jews whose lives he saved. The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours, but you can easily extend and stay to watch movies and explore documents related to the heroes of this incredible story.

Enjoyed the visit with a guide. However, group size was large for the space available in some areas of the museum. Guide was also a little difficult to understand in English sometimes. However would recommend the tour and visit to the museum as part of the interesting history of Poland and Krakow.

Very interesting tour, and gives much more information than just the museum itself. A tour guide is therefore a must.

This museum is not only about Schindler but also life in Krakow during WW2. We met the guide outside the museum and he collected our tickets. There was only 4 of us in the group and the tour was excellent. Michael the tour guide was very knowledge and passionate about the information he was sharing. The museum is very well themed throughout. I would highly recommend visiting this museum when in Krakow.

Schindler’s Factory Museum is one of the best, most powerful museums I’ve ever seen Best to have a knowledgeable guide who can help contextualize the massive amount of information.

Very informative. Would have been better doing it on our own though, as the guide talked very quickly and we didn't get much time to read the picture explanations.

Tour was really good but very busy. The guide was very good but it was quite difficult to hear what she was saying at times due to the background music that was being played . I think the museum need to think about investing in some headphones.

You definitely want to take a guided tour of this museum as it is so much more than just about Oskar Schindler. It’s more of an immersive experience about living in the time of the Nazi invasion if you were persecuted. Truly makes you appreciate what the Jews tragically endured.

The expectation was that this was the original factory, but alas it was just a reconstruction. Interesting history though
