About this activity
When booking, select either a 7:45am or 3:30pm departure. At the selected time, get picked up at your centrally located Krakow hotel and settle in to the specially adapted, air-conditioned minivan for the 30-minute drive to the Wieliczka salt mine.

Upon arrival, begin your 2.5-hour wander through the network of underground tunnels and labyrinths. There are about 360 steps down to the mine but there is also a lift available for customers with disabilities, upon prior notification.

While exploring the mine, your guide tells you all about local history and legends, as well as many interesting facts about the mine, which has a specific micro climate. Due to the high iodine content it can be helpful in the treatment of respiratory problems.

Your tour concludes with drop-off back in central Krakow.

I took the wheelchair accessible tour in the salt mine. I am NOT in a wheelchair and I do not walk with a cane or crutches. But I am 69 years old and not physically fit although I certainly can walk around just fine. However, I was very concerned that descending down approximately 360 steps could cause me discomfort/pain afterward although it might not be permanent. I had visited the salt mines in 1991 when I was last in Krakow area. I was many years younger and considerably lighter in weight!! I really wanted to go again. It was worth the money to me to see that spectacular mine and the artwork to pay this money. It was just as wonderful as I had remembered.
