4 Days in Siem Reap with Angkor Wat and countryside bike tour

Day 1: Arrival in Siem Reap and your first evening in Cambodia.
Upon arrival in Siem Reap airport/bus station, you will meet a local representative, who will take you to your handpicked boutique hotel for the days ahead. The rest of the evening is free for you to explore the new city.

Day 2: Explore the marvellous temples of Angkor from sunrise to sundown.
Depart in Tuk Tuk at 5:30 in the morning for sunrise at the temple complex of Angkor Wat. You will arrive at the mystical Srah Sarong or "King's Bath" around 6am, just in time to see the sunrise over the water and temples. After sunrise, walk across the road and be first at the fabulous jungle temple of Ta Phrom when it opens.
The Angkor Archaeological Park is visually, architecturally and artistically breath taking and one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia if not the world. You could spend weeks exploring the ruins, but on this day tour, you will have a chance to see all the highlights.
After Ta Phrom, you will visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom where you can take a quiet optional 1km walk along the wall and through the jungle to a hidden temple. After this you will visit Angkor Wat. The late afternoon is put aside for a visit to the main temple, Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is one of mankind’s greatest achievements, and the intricate carvings at the temple of Angkor Wat demonstrate the skill of the Khmer builders. It had constructed in the jungle in the early 12th century, then - two centuries later - was mysteriously abandoned by the Khmer civilization. Now Angkor Wat is the main reason tourists come to visit Cambodia.
Finish the day with an unforgettable sunset on the quiet east side of Angkor Wat. (B)

Day 3: )Bike through the countryside and experience the local side of Cambodia
Today you will bike through the surrounding countryside to prepare a local Khmer meal to offer to the monks. Buddhist monks live away from their families and are not allowed to have normal jobs. They depend on the faith and charity of the local people. After a bike just outside of Siem Reap we will meet our chef from the village who takes us grocery shopping at a local food market. A short walk takes us to the pagoda where the monks live so you can hand them the alms. Most likely the monk will give you a blessing and you can ask him everything you like to know regarding Cambodian culture and Buddhism. After you have given alms and eaten lunch in a local Cambodian home, you will bike back to your hotel. (B, L)
