Full-day Chreav Bird Sanctuary Tour with Birding Guide
This is an awesome way to explore a little known, but critically important rare bird sanctuary.
After pickup from your hotel at 7am, leave Siem Reap in an air-conditioned minivan, passing quickly from urban Siem Reap to the rural countryside. See numerous rice paddies, buffaloes, and birds on your way to the Chreav Bird Sanctuary.
Your expert bird guide will be with you throughout the day, sharing unique viewing areas that are ideal for spotting some of Cambodia’s many bird species.
Arrive at Chreav Bird Sanctuary after roughly one hour, then transfer to a traditional longtail boat for the trip onto the lake itself.
You’ll have close-up views of the nesting areas and breeding grounds of the birds that flock to the lake, with a full two hours of water-time for bird watching.
Some of the rare bird species encountered on this tour may include the spot-billed pelican, the black-headed ibis, the greater adjutant, the lesser adjutant, the Asian openbill, the black-necked stork, the painted stork, the Oriental darter, the masked finfoot and the grey-headed fish eagle.
Return to shore for a picnic lunch and drinks, then make the return trip to Siem Reap, where this tour concludes with drop-off at roughly 1pm.
Please note: The dry season of March through August is the best time to visit Chreav Bird Sanctuary.
