The great lake of Tonle Sap, Tonle Sap is called the ‘great lake’ and is one of the two main topographical features of Cambodia. During the rainy season it can swell from 3,000 square kilometres to 7500 square kilometres. Tonle Sap is also one of the world’s richest sources of freshwater fish.
Today we travel by remork (Cambodian tuk tuk) or air-con vehicle depend on the season about 30 minutes to Kampong Phluk and then cruise along a canal, past floating village and stilted fishing village on the Tonle Sap Lake. See seasonal Cambodian agriculture and aquaculture activities such as a duck farm prahoc (Cambodian fish paste) making, lotus and cricket harvesting and explore a local village along the way.
