Stop At: APOPO Visitor Center, Koumai Road Trapeang Ses Village, Kouk Chauk Commune, Siem Reap Cambodia
This morning, 9:30am meet your personal guide and driver and transfer to Shinta Mani Hotel for our private cooking classes. Start with a morning visit to one of the old markets, also known as the Psa Chas. Our Executive Chef will guide you through the market and teach you more about the local produce and herbs for the class. Ingredients that are typically used in Khmer cooking include turmeric, kafir lime leaves, ginger, lemongrass, dried chilli and galangal.
Following the visit to the market, guests will return to the hotel and start the class in a private space within Kroya. Each participant will receive this cook book featuring the four traditional Khmer dishes that will be created during the class. Dishes include mango salad, fish amok, beef sour soup and sticky rice dumplings. Once the meal has been prepped and cooked under the careful guidance of our Executive Chef, these delicious dishes will be enjoyed for lunch.
After lunch, we’ll go on to visit APOPO Visitors Centre and learn about the 1970s’conflict in Cambodia, the impact of landmines on local communities and the painful saga of demining work across the country up until now!
We’ll then start our Sunset Quad Bike at 5pm in the evening which is around an hour before the sun goes down. Before leaving, we will have a safety briefing. You will be provided with helmets and facemasks. Guests should bring long clothes and suitable footwear for driving quad bikes. We’ll take a drive out into the countryside and ride back taking in the stunning Asian sunset which beams down with a brilliant pink colour. Transfer back to your hotel.
