Lotus Farm by Samatoa (lotus silk)
The Lotus Farm is located 10 minutes from Siem Reap center. You will observe our whole unique manufacturing process of Lotus fabric, from the collection of the Lotus stems, to the extraction of the fibre, the spinning or the weaving. This process fully integrates the belief that a sustainable economic development is intrinsically linked to social equity and environmental protection. Then stop by the showroom to discover the exclusive collection of luxury eco-friendly textiles and learn more about their properties. Over the years, they have developed a wide range of Lotus fabrics blended with Kapok, Silk, Cotton or Banana, each offering specific characteristics for different applications.
Your driver will bring you back closer to town to reach the next place
Angkor Artwork (lacquerware)
The artisan of the place, Eric Stocker, is considered as one of the top 10 best lacquers in Asia. In the workshop, you will be introduced the techniques of natural lacquer production and collection. You will see the different techniques associated with lacquer work. You will have the opportunity to see the master pieces in the showroom, including golden and lacquered Buddha status, that needs months of work to be decorated, but also much accessible lacquerware with local designs.
Returning to your tuktuk you will be dropped at the next production workshop a few hundred meters from there.
Sombai (liqueur and jam)
Sombai is a natural home-made liqueur coming in hand painted bottles and getting its inspiration from the local tradition of Sraa Tram and the recipes from the Islands. You will learn how the local liqueur is made by letting fruits and spices macerate in alcohol on a 15-minute visit of the production workshop and see the painters decorating the bottles. Then you can sample the liqueurs in the tasting lounge, including 11 different flavors, and discover their 5 unique alcoholic jams. You will then have time for perhaps purchasing some as unique souvenirs.
Artisan Lunetier (buffalo horn creations)
The driver will escort you to the next stop at the Artisan Lunetier showroom and workshop.
Jacques Danger was the spectacle frame manufacturer for the main show business stars in France including Serge Gainsbourg, Gilbert Bécaud or Polnareff. He has developed his know-how in using natural materials found locally like buffalo horns. Each spectacle frame is unique, made one by one and you will have the opportunity to see the artisan at work. You will have the opportunity to choose your unique model spectacle frames or, any bracelet and pendent made of natural buffalo horn that are also made in the workshop by Dominique, his wife.
Finally, the driver will bring you back to your hotel.
