About this activity
Our itinerary: (Duration approx 8 hours)
11.30am - 12.00pm Our Tour Coordinator will pick you up from the hotel reception and depart for the countryside.
At midday you'll visit a typical Malay home for a herbal garden tour of traditional plants used to treat high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, and other ailments. A delicious Malay styled home-cooked meal will be served. Driv e past scenic houses on stilts and on arrival at Carey Island be greeted by a Mah Meri (ethnic) guide for a comprehensive tour of the village. Learn about cultural traditions as you walk through the village while you visit an ancestral home. The Mah Meri tribe, 2000 remaining, were sea gypsies depending on fishing and agriculture. They excel in wood carvings depicting rich mythological meanings and spiritually influenced. Mah Meri is listed as a UNESCO site.
Finish with a toddy party with local snacks such as wild boar, chicken, mutton. Toddy is coconut wine (similar to grape wine) extracted from the fronds of the coconut tree. It is a health drink with 4% alcohol content and assists in expelling anti oxidants through the urinal systems.
5pm Return transfer arriving in Kuala Lumpur approximately 6pm. End of tour.
