Stop At: Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Kuala Lumpur 50088 Malaysia

A brief photo stop. Tour Guide will give a commentary on the history of Twin Towers.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Merdeka Square, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Merdeka Square is undoubtedly KL’s best known landmark. Also called Dataran Merdeka, it is set in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building (the former State Secretariat). Directly in front is the Royal Selangor Club and to the north is St. Mary’s Church, one of Malaysia’s oldest Anglican churches. Within the colonial core of Kuala Lumpur, where the remnants of the British empire are especially evident, Merdeka Square seems to be nothing more than a giant field with perfectly manicured green lawns and a centrepiece of the tallest flagpole in the world (95m) proudly displaying the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysian flag). At the corner of Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman and Jalan Raja Laut, Merdeka Square is made up of a padang (field) that was once the Selangor Club cricket pitch.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: National Mosque (Masjid Negara), Jalan Perdana, Kuala Lumpur 50480 Malaysia

The National Mosque of Malaysia is located at Kuala Lumpur. The mosque has a large capacity of 15,000 people and is surrounded by lush greenery which expands to a 13-acre land. The original structure of the mosque was the product of a team of three people from the Public Works Department. The mosque was actually built on the site of a church in 1965. The mosque has been standing firm on its grounds since then and is now deemed as an important symbol of the Islamic country of Malaysia.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Menara Kuala Lumpur, No. 2 Jalan Punchak Off Jalan P Ramlee, Kuala Lumpur 50250 Malaysia

Along with the Petronas Twin Towers, Menara KL Tower is easily Malaysia’s most recognizable and popular landmark. Constructed in 1994, the tower stands at 421 metres and effortlessly trumps the Petronas Twin Towers with the highest and most spectacular view of the city. This gleaming tower’s spindle-like apex is visible from almost anywhere in Kuala Lumpur. Menara KL’s viewing deck is, at 276 metres, at least 100 metres higher than the Petronas Twin Towers’ Skybridge; the view is marvellous during the day and even better at night when you can see the entire sparkling city centre.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: National Monument, Jalan Taming Sari Lake Gardens, Kuala Lumpur 50480 Malaysia

The National Monument is located at a walking distance from the famous Lake Gardens Kuala Lumpur. The National Monument is a sculpture which was built in remembrance of the brave soldiers who died fighting for the independence of our country. This historic sculpture has also marked its place in the book of records for being the tallest freestanding group of bronze sculptures.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Thean Hou Temple, 65 Persiaran Endah Off Jalan Syed Putra, Kuala Lumpur 50460 Malaysia

Thean Hou Temple is one of the oldest and largest temples in Southeast Asia. Southwest of the city, it is a popular tourist attraction and is located along Jalan Klang Lama. Overlooking the Federal highway, the six-tiered Buddhist temple is also known as the Temple of the Goddess of Heaven. Dedicated to Tian Hou, a goddess said to protect fishermen, the temple is also a shrine where many come to worship Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. Built by KL’s Hainanese community in 1894, it is set on a hill and offers wonderful views of the city.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Railway Station and Administration Building, Jalan Hishamuddin, Kuala Lumpur 53800 Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur Railway Station is an almost fairytale Moorish-style building to the southeast of the National Mosque. Located along Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin (previously known as Victory Avenue), it used to be KL’s main railway hub until 2001 when Kuala Lumpur Sentral took over much of its role. Adopting a mixture of Eastern and Western styles, it was designed by A.B. Hubbock in 1910. Opposite stands the Malaya Railway Administration Building, also designed by Hubbock in 1917. Beneath the Islamic exterior, the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station resembles a typical glass and iron Victorian-era English railway building.

The driver guide is punctual in picking us up at the hotel at 10 am which I have requested. At the end of the tour, he even sent us back to the hotel. It was a tour worth taking up. Some problems though: 1. He missed out Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and the Thean Hou Temple. 2. He misunderstood my request to swop the sequence of KL Tower and Petronas Tower. I requested the last stop to be Petronas Tower instead of KL Tower but he thought that I did not want to go to KL Tower. After some clarification, he brought us to KL Tower after our visit to Petronas Tower. Perhaps he felt that he was in the wrong, therefore he offered to send us back to the hotel. I still gave him some tips to reward him for his initiative though. :
