Malacca Chinese Heritage Walking Trail Tour
Home to a vast array of Portuguese architecture, the town is also home to descendants of Chinese settlers that have influenced local cuisine, known as "Nyonya", for generations. Pay a visit to Port De Santiago, built by the Portuguese and home to some of the oldest surviving European relics in the whole of Asia.
Wander through the ruins of nearby St. Paul's Church, lined with 17th-century tombstones, before exploring the pink administrative buildings built by the Dutch and which now house the Malacca Museum. Later, pay a visit to Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, one of the only places where the three pillars of Chinese spirituality, Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism, can be found under one roof. You will also visit Kampung Kling Mosque and Sri Poyatha Moorthi Temple along the Street of Harmony.
Later we will bring you to the Baba Nyonya Heritage Museum and Nyonya Kuih Factory to learn more about this fascinating minority ethnic group descended from different cultures.
Finally, take a leisurely stroll along Malacca's Jonker Street (the main street of Chinatown) which is a perfect place to see the diverse cultures of Malacca merge together. This central hub of activity also serves as a haven for antique collectors, bargain hunters, and vintage fashion enthusiasts.
