Wildlife Refuge Exploration - Cuero y Salado (Full day)

Exploring the wildlife refuge: bird watching and mangrove lagoon, “burra” and boat ride, secluded tranquil beaches. we drive to La Union, 20 km outside La Ceiba. Here we change our vehicle to a “burra”- a small, open–air railway cart, or an old train. The ride takes approx. 45 min. and goes through a former coconut area, an excellent place for bird watching. Bring your camera! Reaching the Lagoon we hire a boat. A FUCSA –guide (Fundacion Cuero Y Salado) takes us through the mangrove lagoon, we are looking out for birds, monkeys, bats, maybe an anteater and learning about the mangroves and the history of the park.
