Day 1: San Juan to Rodeo Andean Village
Stop At: Cuesta del Viento Dam, Rodeo Argentina
An oasis of green waters inviting to adventure at Cuyan lands With more than 300 days/year with winds greater than 20 knots, the Cuesta del Viento’s Dam –in Rodeo, at about 125 miles from San Juan City- is one of the best places in the world to practice windsurf. Besides, it is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Syrah’s land. This windsurf and kitesurf paradise covers more than 7,400 acres where the green water contrasts with the rock’s darkness. Quiet in the mornings –ideal for kayaking and/or fishing- it gets crowdy at noon where its many visitors are anxiously waiting for the Southeastern strong winds that invite to play with the waves. Rodeo is the base-point to get to Cuesta del Viento Dam, with camping and supplies as well as an interesting accommodation offer specially for young people. From San Juan’s capital city, it is necessary to take Route 40 to the North and, when arriving to Talacasto, take Route 149 or continue along Route 40 until San José de Jáchal. From Jáchal –one of those 18th century towns that best maintain the provincial quiet life- the road to Rodeo crosses a cornice road that accompanies the river of the same name, at which rapids rafting can be practiced

Day 2: Rodeo to Valle del Elqui Chile crossing the Agua Negra Trail

El Paso de Agua Negra, o Paso del Agua Negra, es un paso fronterizo entre Argentina y Chile, localizado en el Departamento Iglesia de la provincia argentina de San Juan y en la provincia chilena de Elqui de la región de Coquimbo, comuna de Vicuña. Comunica las localidades de Las Flores (6.000 habitantes), departamento Iglesia -distante 2 km del Complejo Fronterizo de Control Migratorio-Aduanero, y 70 km de San José de Jachal-, con la localidad de Huanta (3500 habitantes), distante 90 km del Limite Internacional.
Debido a su altitud, este paso se encuentra abierto en temporada estival (de diciembre a abril). El resto del año queda bloqueado por la nieve. Es el paso fronterizo internacional más alto entre Argentina y Chile, a una altura de 4780 msnm es uno de los pasos internacionales más altos del mundo, superado ampliamente por el paso internacional de Karakorum (entre Pakistán y China) de 5540 msnm.
Inaugurado en 1965, por problemas políticos entre ambos países el camino se clausuró en 1977, reabriéndose al público en 1994.12
En la actualidad está en proyecto la construcción de dos túneles, que permitirán una comunicación interoceánica para este paso.

Stop At: Valle del Elqui, La Serena Chile
El Valle de Elqui, llamado antiguamente también como Valle de Coquimbo, es una cuenca hidrográfica ubicada en la provincia de Elqui, Región de Coquimbo, en Chile. El principal río de esta cuenca es el Elqui, que nace de la confluencia de los ríos Claro y Turbio, provenientes ambos de la cordillera de los Andes, y desemboca en el océano Pacífico, algunos kilómetros al norte de la ciudad de La Serena.
En este valle se encuentra ubicado uno de los tantos embalses que posee la región, el embalse Puclaro, que se encuentra a 432 msnm en un sector conocido como Angostura Puclaro y que tene una capacidad de 200 millones de m³ de agua y 760 ha.
El valle se beneficia de su recurso hídrico y largos períodos de sol durante el año, ambos excelentes para la producción de frutas, vegetales y, especialmente, el cultivo de uvas para exportación y para la producción local de pisco. El clima es estepárico, con nublados abundantes en la costa y gran sequedad atmosférica y cielos limpios hacia el interior; en la cordillera las temperaturas son más bajas por efecto de la altitud.
Al tener uno de los cielos más claros del hemisferio sur, razón por la cual diversas organizaciones internacionales han instalado observatorios astronómicos en las cumbres de los cerros Pachón y Tololo.
En el valle se ubica Vicuña, su principal ciudad y lugar donde nació la poetisa chilena Gabriela Mistral, ganadora del Premio Nobel de Literatura el año 1945 y del Premio Nacional de Literatura de 1951.
Es uno de los lugares más visitados del norte chico chileno, y es considerado un polo energético y asociado al fenómenos OVNI por las comunidades que realizan actividades esotéricas en él. Posee atractivos turísticos, como el Museo Gabriela Mistral, el Observatorio educativo Mamalluca, Viña Cavas del Valle, considerada la más alta de Chile, la planta de producción de Pisco CAPEL, y las cocinas solares de Villaseca.

Stop At: Atacama Dessert, Chile
Breakfast. Exit north until you reach Totoralillos and then follow Choros, from this point we are in contact with the Atacama desert, in the Santa Clara reserve, where we will surely see Guanacos and Zorros on the side of the road in a bucolic landscape. We will continue crossing the beginning of the desert until we reach the Humboldt Penguin National Reserve, in Punta Choros Cove where the contrast of the immense desert with the Sea will leave us astonished.
