Gulf of Poets boat tour: the three islands

Variable
About this activity

The Gulf of the Poets, named after Lord Byron and Shelley who lived here and took inspiration from its beauty, is dominated by three islands: Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto.
Of the three, only Palmaria (located just in front of the Famous Portovenere) is accessible, while Tino and Tinetto are small inaccessible islands, rich in vegetation and animals.

The beauty of the three islands, especially at sunset, is breathtaking!

With this 1,5 hours tour, you and your beloved ones will experience the breathtaking beauty of our coastline, enjoying the Gulf of Poets' most picturesque villages, its crystal clear water and secret spots inaccessible from land.

The hidden gems you will see during the tour, from the unique perspective of the sea are:

  • Torre Scola, an ancient military fort built at the center of the Gulf in the 16th century by the Republic of Genoa and damaged during the Napoleonic wars
  • The "Azzurra" grotto in Palmaria Island
  • The old-lighthouse of the Tino Island (one of the few remaining in Europe of its kind)
  • "Madonna Stella Maris" statue emerging from the depth of the sea outside the "Tinetto" Island,
  • The dismissed cableway used until the II World Wars to load the marble from the local quarry on board the ships.
  • The many unique military installations from the 1st and 2nd World Wars
  • Portovenere and the unique ancient beauty of the "Byron" grotto, capable of inspiring Lord Byron and Shelley, will complete the journey before returning to the port of La Spezia.

During the tour, we will offer you an excellent bottle of local wine and some appetizers so you can toast to such beauty.
