About this activity
Pesto is a unique sauce born in Liguria; this traditional sauce is used for seasoning pasta, but it is so delicious that is good even on bread. The original Pesto Genovese is made with basil, garlic, pine nuts, extra virgin olive oil, salt, and Parmesan.

Discover the traditions behind Pesto and learn to prepare at the cinque terre. Merge yourself in a typical Italian atmosphere and feel like a master chef for one day. Meet your friendly local chef and get ready to improve your cooking skills; you will use the freshest ingredients, such as basil and pine nuts. You will learn to prepare the Pesto with the mortar, in the most traditional way, while learning curiosities about Ligurian culinary traditions. At the end of the class, take a sit and enjoy the fruits of your labor with your friends and family. Don't forget to take with you the recipe for surprising your guest back home!

We planned this cooking class excursion months in advance and even made sure we stayed the night in La Spezia, the Newark of Cinque Terre, because of the several references in the description that it would take place at hosts home in La Spezia. Less than 48 hours before the time of the cooking class, we received an email that not only would the cooking class be moved up an hour earlier but that it would also be held in another town 40 miles away at a restaurant instead of the home. What was the deal? Did you need kitchen help under the guise of a "cooking class"?
