About this activity
Visit Verona, the romantic town of Romeo and Juliet, jewel of the European Renaissance in this comprehensive walking tour. You will be picked up, usually after breakfast, by a comfortable bus with an English speaking guide on board. Once in Verona, you will meet a city guide who will lead you on a walking tour of the city.

Few cities could be more romantic or beautiful than Verona, the city dates back to Roman times and there is much to see such as the house of Juliet with the famous balcony, ancient ruins, medieval palaces and impressive piazzas. The walking tour in the center of Verona will usually start in Piazza Bra where the Roman Arena is situated then continue along the most elegant street of the city, Via Mazzini, to Piazza Erbe, Piazza dei Signori and Juliet's House.

In the afternoon, at the end of the walking tour, there will be time to explore or do some shopping on your own before joining the bus and guide for the return journey to your resort in time for dinner.

This was our only large group tour for this trip - we prefer smaller groups but this seemed to be the best fit for our schedule and so we gave it a try. And it was a very good day - the guide on the bus was very well-informed and efficient, and the other guide who led the walking tour was excellent - we could have listened to him all day. We got on at Sirmione, which is the last pick-up and first drop-off. Pick up was 15 minutes late - but I think we had a far better experience than the people who got on first and then had nearly 2 hours on the bus. But I have only given 4 stars because the information says that it is a tour with an English- speaking guide. This is factually accurate - but there were 4 German tourists on the bus who had a booked a tour with a German-speaking guide - so the guide had to repeat every single thing in both languages, which meant that there were long periods when we had no idea what we were looking at because the guide was speaking in German during that section. Fortunately, the walking tour was completely English-speaking, but I do think that this was a bit misleading and quite annoying.

The guided walking tour was excellent - Sara spoke extremely clearly so my quite deaf husband also enjoyed it. The German guide on the bus, however, was quite sexist - jokes about women and shopping and men not liking opera!
