Guided Excursion to Venice by Coach and Private Motorboat from Lake Garda

About this activity
Throughout the excursion, on an air-conditioned coach, you will be escorted by an English speaking guide. There will be a morning coffee stop on the motorway on your way to Venice (own expense). During the drive to wonderful city of Venice, the guide will explain how the day is organized, what you will be able to see and give a brief history of the area. The city has an immensely rich artistic patrimony so obviously it is impossible to condense such an exhaustive collection into one day but on this tour you will be able to see the most famous sights of Venice.
Since all traffic in Venice moves on water, on arrival you will board a private motor boat which, going along the Giudecca Canal, will take you to S. Mark's Square. The guide will stop in the heart of Venice, in St. Mark's Square, to admire the Byzantine Basilica, the splendid Doges Palace, the Clock Tower, the Campanile and to capture the atmosphere of the most beautiful piazza in Europe. From S. Mark's the guide will lead you through the narrow streets to the imposing Rialto Bridge spanning the Grand Canal, a 16th century stone construction. Under its double porticoes are numerous shops selling various products peculiar to Venice: blown glassware, jewellery, lace, embroidery and carnival masks.
Of course there will be some free time for shopping or for a closer look at some of the artistic treasures of Venice. The guide will tell you where to meet for the return journey, again by motorboat, to the coach.
Finally there will be the opportunity of having a gondola ride, a lagoon motorboat trip or lunch organized by the guide as an optional extra. Please remember to bring suitable clothes to visit sacred places.

The commentary enroute was OK, very factual. would have like some of the romantic side to Venice thrown in to make it a little more light hearted. i did feel we were a little pushed to pay for a Gondola ride or/and a lagoon tour at the end of the day. there was no 'this is optional' all a clever sales pitch. In the Gondola ride you are with a group of around 6 people then a lot of other gondolas go off together all packed packed in like sheep. we did not do the gondola ride but we chose the lagoon ride at the end at a cost of 20 Euros each. I DO NOT recommend this 1 hour tour, you go through industrial estate and modern housing estate away from the 'old part' of venice, i didn't get it! i got more out of the motor boat ride (which is included) from the coach drop off point into Venice and back again at the end of the day. back on the coach Janos had a nice side line of flogging odd bottles of water from a carrier bag for 1Euro each! as we were the last pick up up it meant first drop off!!!!! into Sirmione it is a long drive to the centre, full of hotels along the way. The 3 couples all got on at the bottom where we expected to be dropped off. we noticed the same couples get off at the top end then the drive turned around and started leaving, names were called out as they got off but ours was not. i headed immediately to the driver and guide and informed him. both were visibly not happy, Franco (the driver) span the couch around and headed into into Sirmione at speed (I was sat over the driver and noticing he was hitting 60kms in a 30km zone - an older lady i was sat next to, obviously fearful, put her seatbelt on, sat behind Janos and Franco listening to them moaning I Google Translated them on my phone, it didn't pick everything up but it was interesting what it did) we were both snubbed as we got of the coach in Sirmione. i wasn't sure if i was was annoyed or found both behaviour childish and amusing. happy retirement Franco and cheer up
