About this activity
Get your scuba certification. For some it's the incredible beauty of the reef and the marine life that inhabits it, for others it's the thrill of discovery deep inside a wreck or cave - everyone has a different reason for scuba diving, but most would agree that it's for the sheer enjoyment of experiencing the underwater world, a world so far removed from ours that it will truly amaze you. Whether you want to relax while photographing brightly colored tropical fish, be thrilled by the power and grace of a school of sharks, or make a living working underwater, scuba diving has it all. If youve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see the wondrous world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. You breathe underwater for the first time (something youll never forget) and learn what you need to know to become a certified diver. During the course, youll make at least five pool dives and four dives on our beautiful reefs under the supervision of your experienced instructor. You learn to use basic scuba gear like mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, weight belt and your BCD (buoyancy control device). Gaining this scuba diving certification enables you in future to dive worldwide independently and without the supervision of a professional. Plan your own dives, dive at your own pace and just enjoy the underwater world with your buddy, whether you dive here in Grenada or elsewhere. You'll also meet the prerequisites to enroll in the Advanced Open Water Diver program and a lot of specialty courses if you wish to continue your training. The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of 5 dives in the pool or confined water, 5 knowledge development sessions, 4 open water training dives to a maximum depth of 18 meters. The Open Water Diver materials cover what you need to know about basic scuba diving skills, terminology, and safety procedures. For each concept, you'll read a description and watch a video demonstration. Then you'll jump in the pool to practice these skills with your instructor. Later, as a certified diver, use the course materials as a reference guide for future diving adventures and to review what you learned. But you don't have to wait to get going. With PADI eLearning and the Open Water Diver Course Online, you can start right now. Here you learn the background information you need before each dive at your own pace through interactive learning.
