About this activity

The Trip:
It is primarily an exploration trip of the stone-built old quarter of Kakopetria village and of Unesco World Heritage Agios Nicolaos tis Stegis painted church. Depending on travellers’ preferences and time availability, there may be possibilities to do a walk in Troodos (eg Artemis, Persephone, Caledonia Waterfalls), have a meal at a village restaurant or visit other attractions on the way (depending on pickup location).

Duration : Six, Eight or Ten hours, depending on package selection

Pickup time : To be agreed with the travellers. Usually it is between 08:30 and 09:30.

Pickup location : At an agreed place (eg hotel, port, etc) usually in Nicosia or Limassol. It can be at other cities or resorts (eg Paphos, Larnaca, Pissouri, even Protaras or Agia Napa). From Agia Napa or Protaras the trip would make sense if the duration is 8 or 10 hours, as, due to the significant distance, there is considerable time to be spent in the car.

Itinerary : Kakopetria and Agios Nicolaos Tis Stegis Unesco World Heritage Painted church are the two basic attractions of this trip.

In our opinion, visiting one of the ten Unesco World Heritage Troodos Painted Churches in Cyprus is a must do activity in our Cyprus.
The laid-back old part of Kakopetria village offers an excellent example of Cyprus rural architecture and a collection of attractions (eg a traditional man powered olive press). For those into nature, a walk up in (almost unique) Troodos is also highly recommended, as is a meal at one of a few village restaurants. The overall itinerary may differ depending on the pick up location. From Nicosia, if there is time we may visit for example also Panagia tis Asinou Unesco World Heritage painted church. From Limassol we may visit Omodos village and/or Kelephos medieval Venetian bridge, etc. The trip is customisable.

Possible Walks:
Besides a short walk at the stream next to old Kakopetria, and subject to time availability, travellers could do Artemis circular trail (or other walks in the area). For an itinerary from Limassol we could include instead Caledonia Waterfalls trail, the shorter Pano Platres - Myllomeris Waterfall trail, or even a short walk at Kelephos Medieval Venetian Bridge.

Transportation :

We usually use a Citroen C8 MPV car.

What’s included:

Guiding the trip in general and possibly a walk.

What’s excluded :
