About this activity
Fantastic Leven canyon and wonderful Gunns Plains caves. Now on cruise ship day, you can get to see Tasmania's version of the Grand Canyon, as well as explore inside areal Glow worm cave. All within a 90 km distance from your cruise ship in Burnie. So, it makes sense to do this, as many people have either been to placers such as Cradle Mountain before, or they have only a limited time in port and therefore do NOT want to be rushing back to their ship out of breath! The Leven Canyon tour commences with a hinterland drive through rich agricultural areas and pretty villages. Access to the Leven Canyon itself includes some walking up to the fabulous lookout, where you take in the awe inspiring view down to the Leven River, some 300m ( 1000 feet) below! Awesome! For those who want an added challenge, there is the option of doing the return walk to the bus, via the Canyon floor . The Gunns Plains CAVES involves a one hour fully guided tour through the exquisite sanctum of a limestone cave, complete with huge stallactites and columns, a swell as Cute and fascinating Glow worms.Returning to your ship via a circular route allows you to see some of Tasmania's fantastic and rugged coastal scenery
