Seahorse World Guided Tour
Make your own way to Beauty Point, 45 minutes from Launceston, to reach Seahorse World. Parking is available in the large parking lot, and then you can take a short walk to the entrance on the wharf. Show your voucher at the ticket sales desk, and confirm the next available tour departure.
Your 45-minute tour is guided by one of Seahorse World's staff guides and starts in the Cave, home to a selection of seahorses and seadragons. Here you will learn a bit about seahorses and their mysterious behavior. Then move into the Farm for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the world’s first working seahorse farm. This is where the fish are fed, and you can see pot-bellied seahorses in all stages of life, from fingernail-size babies to larger adults going about their day.
The final section is the Southern Ocean Aquarium, which showcases some of the bizarre and mystical creatures found in Tasmanian waters. In this room, you’ll also have the opportunity to touch some of the creatures from the deep in the touch pool and hold a seahorse in the palm of your hand.
Walking distance is no more than 330 feet (100 meters) on flat surfaces, making it easy and achievable for pretty much anyone. There are benches to rest throughout the facility if needed. Your tour ends in the gift shop, where you are able to purchase coffee or bite to eat upstairs with views over the Tamar River.
Seahorse World is dedicated to seahorse breeding, education, and conservation. Under permits issued by Environment Australia, Seahorse World is one of very few seahorse farms in the world that are registered to export seahorses under the CITES program.
