Matera day tour from Lecce

Take a full day tour of Southern Italy to experience the region’s food, wine and landscape. You’ll visit a winery and savor some of the best wines produced in the area; you’ll also have the chance to explore Matera, one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, with its historical center called Sassi, considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

You’ll travel with an expert local guide through unspoiled landscape boasting ancient vineyards that have produced the famous Primitivo, Negromaro, Sussumaniello, Aglianico and Bombino Bianco wines.

This full-day excursion will begin in Gioia del Colle. You’ll be taken on a tour by one of the owners of this organic vineyard, where focus will be on the fantastic Primitivo wine. If you choose to visit one further vineyard, you’ll be taken to a masseria, or country estate, where an expert sommelier will take you through the organic wine production process. Before lunch, you will head to the ancient city of Matera.
