Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Lhasa

Stop At: Lhasa Gongga Airport Parking Lot, Gonggar, Shannan, Tibet, China
You will be greeted by your Tibetan guide once you arrive in Lhasa Gonggar airport or train station. From airport to Lhasa city is 68km, around one hour and half drive will take you to the holy city Lhasa; from the train station it is only 15km and takes 20 minutes by drive. Afternoon, have a good rest to acclimatize the high altitude. Overnight in Lhasa.

Day 2: Lhasa Sightseeing

Stop At: Potala Palace, 35 Beijing Middle Rd, Chengguan Qu, Lasa Shi, Xizang Zizhiqu, China, 850000
About 8km west of central Lhasa is the Drepung Monastery, once world's largest monastery with about 10,000 monks. This day's sightseeing begins with these white monastic buildings piled up on the hillside. Walking up to the hill is a pleasant thing, an easy break from the solemn ambience inside the halls and chapels. At the plat roof of hillside, you can have very good views of the whole Lhasa city and the distant mountains. Drepung is one of Lhasa's two great Gelugpa monasteries, the other is Sera Monastery. Around 5km north of central Lhasa, Sera may not be as grandiose as Drepung, but is more serene surrounded by many small temples. The 'Buddhism Scriptures Debating' in Sera is very famous. A welcome dinner is arranged today. Overnight in Lhasa.

Day 3: Lhasa Sightseeing

Stop At: Drepung Monastery (Zhebang Si), Southern Slope of Genpeiwuzi Mountain, Chengguan District, Lhasa 850000 China
Today’s sightseeing starts from Lhasa's cardinal landmark-Potala Palace, a structure of massive portions. Its towering image already appearing on various occasions, but your first sight of the Potala will still be an awe-inspiring moment. It takes at least a good 2-hour to visit those rooms, halls and chapels. Then, we will drop a visit of the Jokhang Temple, the spiritual center of Tibet. Everyday, pilgrims from every corner of Tibet trek a long distance to the temple. The temple is the product of Han, Tibetan and Nepalese architectural techniques. Then we will visit Barkhor Street, the oldest street in a very traditional city in Tibet. Overnight in Lhasa.

Day 4: Lhasa / Gyantse [3980m] / Shigatse [3840m]

Stop At: Tashilunpo Monastery, Jijilangka Road, Shigatse 857001 China
After breakfast, you’ll first start the drive to Chushul, here you will cross Kambala Pass which is 4794m high, Kambala Pass will provide you the first sight of the holy lake - Yamdrok tso. Then drive down to the bank of Yamdrok tso Lake, it takes about half an hour driving along the beautiful the bank to the nearest town – Nangartse. After lunch, continue on Southern Friendship Highway towards west, enjoy the spectacular views of the snow-capped mountains, valleys and grasslands with the groups of nomads. En route we will stop at Karo la to see the holy mount Nyenchen Kangsar glacier. Arrival at Gyantse in the afternoon, in Gyantse, you will be arranged to visit the famous stupa - Gyantse Kumbum, the most stunning architectural wonder in Tibet, as well as Pelkor Choede. Afterwards drive to Shigatse, about 90km away from Gyantse, the drive will take about 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, check in the hotel. Overnight in Shigatse.

Day 5: Shigatse / Rongbuk Monastery [4900m] / E.B.C.

Stop At: Rongbuk Monastery, near North Everest Base Camp, Tingri County China
In the morning, we will visit the largest monastery in west Tibet, the Tashilunpo Monastery, which is also the home of Panchen Lama. Then drive westwards the Friendship way to New Tingri via Gyatso La pass [5248m], which gives you distance view of Himalayan range. When we reach E.B.C (Everest Base Camp), If it is in clear weather, we can have a glimpse of 4 mountains which are 8000m high or more. Rongbuk Monastery is the highest monastery in the world with an altitude of 5154 meters. It belongs to Ningma sect and is consisted by both monks and nuns. Overnight in Rongbuk Monastery Tent or Guest House.

Day 6: E.B.C. / Gyirong

Stop At: Mt. Everest Base Camp, kathmandu, Thamel, Tingri County 858200 China
Get up early this morning, and if the weather's good enough, you could have a chance to see the sunrise of Mt. Everest from Rongbuk Monastery and view the peak glittering in the sunshine. It's hard to peel your gaze away from the stunning view of the magnificent north face of the world's tallest peak - Mt. Everest (Qomolangma as its Tibetan name, meaning "Goddess Mother of Mountains"). Rongbuk Monastery is the furthest place we could reach in the Qomolangma scenic area. Later, we will drive forward to Gyirong Town. You will pass by Peikutso Lake and enjoy the breathtaking views of the snow-capped Shishapangma [8012m]. Overnight at Gyirong Town.

Day 7: Gyirong Port see off

Pass By: the Epigraph of Wang Xuance Exerting Tianzhu of Tang Dynasty, North of Zongga Town, Gyirong County 858700 China
Today, we see you off from the Gyirong Town to the port. Our guide will assist tourists to clear the China Customs and you will cross the border and check in Nepal side on your own. There are about 130km from Gyirong to Kathmandu city which takes about 9 hours by local jeeps at the Nepalese border. All our services in Tibet end at Chinese border of Gyirong.
