7-Night Lhasa to Everest Base Camp Classic Tour

About this activity
Day 1: Arrival

Your guide will pick you up at the airport/ train station and take you to the hotel. Stay in Lhasa 4-star hotel or 3-star hotel (Option).

Day 2: Lhasa City (B,D)

The tour will firstly bring you to the Potala Palace, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama. It has been used since the 7th century by the 33rd great king of Tibet. After lunch, head to Jokhang Temple which was founded by the 33rd great king of Tibet in the 7th century. Around the temple is Barkhor Street where you can kora with pilgrims and locals. Stay in Lhasa 4-star hotel or 3-star hotel (Option).

Day 3: Lhasa City (B)

Today, you are going to visit Sera monastery and Drepung monastery, which are two of the “three greet” Gelug monasteries of Tibet, together with Tashilunpo Monastery. Stay in Lhasa 4-star hotel or 3-star hotel (Option).

Day 4: Lhasa-Shigatse (B)

Tourist will visit from Lhasa to Gyantse. On the way, the group will pass over the Gampala pass (4790m), and will get a glimpse of Yamdrok-tso (4400m). The Lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains. Tourists will stop around the roadside and explore Korola Glacier (5030m). The texture and the tip of Korola Glacier can be clearly seen. The tour moves on to Gyantse where you will visit the famous Pelkor Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum. After 1.5 hours, you will arrive in Shigatse. Stay in Shigatse 4-star hotel or 3-star hotel (Option).

Day 5: Everest Base Camp (B)

You'll leave Shigatse after getting your Alien’s Travel Permit, and then drive to Lhatse where you can take lunch. After that, you will drive to Shegar and if the weather is clear enough, you can view the Mt. Everest in the distance on the way back down. You'll pass Gawula Pass(5050m), one of the highest passes in Tibet. From that pass, you can view all of the five highest peaks in the world. After 4 to 6 hours, you will arrive at Rongbuk monastery. Stay in EBC Guestroom tent.

Day 6: Everest Base Camp Return to Shigatse

In the morning, you can see the sunrise appear on the top of Mt Everest, and have a full view of the magnificent Mount which stands like a snow-capped pyramid in front of you at Rongpuk, the vantage point for watching Mt. Everest. Then drive back to Shigatse. Stay in Shigatse 4-star hotel or 3-star hotel (Option).

Day 7: Shigatse to Lhasa (B)

You will start your day by heading to the Tashilunpo Monastery, which is the seat of Tibet's second highest incarnation, the Panchen Lama. Afterwards, you will be driven 175 miles (280km) back to Lhasa by following Yalong Valley through Friendship Highway. It takes about 6 hours. Stay in Lhasa 4-star hotel or 3-star hotel (Option).

Day 8: Departure (B)

Your guide will pick you up at the hotel and take you to the airport.

  • Confirmation will be received within 48 hours of booking, subject to availability
  • Book at least 20 days in advance so tour operator may attain your Tibet Permit. Tibet Permit will be delivered to customers' delivery address / hotel address in one city of China. Please note your tour operator will contact you after the booking is confirmed.
  • Travelers are required to provide photocopy of passports and China L visas at least 20 days prior to travel date.
  • Please Note: Customers' airport pick-up and drop-off in Lhasa needs to be arranged by the tour supplier. If customers fly to Lhasa from Kathmandu, please do not apply for China L Visa in advance. Customers need to apply for their Tibet Group Visa from China Embassy in Kathmandu via travel agency. Before that, they need to ask for an invitation letter from the tour supplier. If customers fly or take a train to Lhasa from one city of China, they need to apply for their China L Visa from the China Embassy in their country.
