Itinerary

Day 1: ARRIVAL IN LHASA BY AIR OR TRAIN AND MEET WITH OTHER TRAVELERS.

Stop At: Lhasa Railway Station, Liuwu Country, Doilungdeqen County 851400 China
A short flight to Tibet give you a panorama of the snowy Himalayan ranges or the days of train ride over high plateau by crossing the mighty Thangu la ranges get you to Lhasa with beautiful sceneries along the route, at your arrival at the Gonggar airport or Lhasa Train Station, you will be greeted by our Tibetan guide and driver and transfer to your hotel in Lhasa city, from the airport it is about 70km to Lhasa and it takes 1:30 hrs, from the train station it is only 25km and it takes about half hour, check in the hotel and meet with other travelers in the group. Take it easy for the rest of the day to acclimatize and alleviate the jet lag. Overnight in Lhasa, accommodation by your own.

Day 2: LHASA ESCORTED TOUR. (B) Attractions; Potala palace, Jokhang temple and bustling Bakhor street.

Stop At: Potala Palace, No.35 Gongqian Alley, Beijing Middle Road Cheng Guan District, Lhasa 850000 China
On your first day on the plateau, you may have little headaches or experience some drowsiness. This is very common among travelers adjusting to the high altitude. We recommend drinking plenty of water and mild activity during the first couple of days.

In the afternoon, we will visit the famous Potala Palace, the cardinal landmark of Tibet and a masterpiece of Tibetan architecture. It was first built by 33rd King Songtsen Gangpo in 7thcentury and later rebuilt in 17th century rebuilt by 5th Dalai Lama. Since then it has been home to the Dalai Lama and his government.

Stop At: Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Chengguan District, Lhasa 850000 China
After breakfast, your guide will meet you at your hotel and take you to Jokhang Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in Tibet and focal point of pilgrim worship. From there, we’ll walk the famous Barkhor Street around the Jokhang temple, one of Asia’s most unique markets and a great introduction to modern Tibetan culture.

Day 3: LHASA ESCORTED TOUR. (B) Attractions; Drepung monastery and Sera monastery.

Stop At: Drepung Monastery (Zhebang Si), Southern Slope of Genpeiwuzi Mountain, Chengguan District, Lhasa 850000 China
Today we will visit Drepung monastery about 45km to the north of Lhasa. One the largest monasteries in the world, at one point it housed for more than 10,000 monks. Bring your camera for an inside look of monastic life and the twisting narrow alleys.

Stop At: Sera Monastery, Wuze Hill , Sera Chengguan District, Lhasa 850000 China
The day’s adventures will finish with a visit to Sera Monastery, home to over 600 monks, where we will get chance to see the monks Buddhist philosophical debate and you can take some photots.

Day 4: LHASA(3600m) - GYANTSE (3900m) - SHIGATSE(3900m), 350 km, 7hrs. (B) Yamdrok lakeGyantse Kubum stupa monastery.

Stop At: Yamdrok Yumtso Lake, Langkazi Country, Nagarze County 851100 China
We begin our journey west, by zigzagging up the Kampa la pass (4700m) to get a breathtaking glimpse of the holy Yamdrok Lake with its turquoise waters and snowcapped Mt. Nyenchen Khangsar in the distance. Then we’ll continue driving along the lake for few kilometers and stop for lunch at Nagar tse.

Stop At: Karola Glacier, Junction of Ngarzhag County and Gyantse County, Nagarze County 851100 China
The rest of the day will be spent enjoying the many magnificent valleys and Tibetan villages that we pass through. En route we will stop at Karo la (5150m) to see the holy Mt. Nyenchen Kangsar glacier.

Stop At: Palkhor Monastery and Kumbum Stupa, Northwest of the County, Gyangze County 857400 China
In Gyantse, we’ll visit the Kumbum Stupa next to the Palkhor Choede monastery. This magnificent multi-door structure is the largest stupa in Tibet and is not only known for its architecture but also its old sculptures and paintings all around its inner walls. In the late afternoon we’ll drive to Shigatse and stay overnight.

Day 5: SHIGATSE – SHEGAR (4100m) AND VISIT SAKYA MONASTERY, 200km, 4hrs. (B) Attractions: Sakya monastery.

Stop At: Sakya Monastery, Basiba Road, Sa'gya County 857800 China
Today we will drive on the Friendship Highway to Shegar via Lhatse, en route we will visit the mysterious monastery called Sakya monastery by crossing the Tso La pass which is 4500m above sea level. Sakya is unique for its color and one of the important sect in Tibetan Buddhism, Sakya literally means “Grey Soil” and the name was derived from the Bon Bon Hill (Grey clay hill). Sakya monastery has two parts divided by the Zongchu river, the Northern side of the monastery is not active now a days and left as ruin that is built by Kon Konchok Gyalpo where most of the rituals and praying happening on the Southern part of the monastery built by Dromgon Choegyal Phakpa. Afternoon we will drive to Shegar. Overnight at Shegar.

Note: before leaving Shigatse, your guide need some time to obtain the ATP from the local PSB, ATP is also known as Alien’s Travel Permit and it is a permit that should be issued for the border check at Shegar.

Day 6: SHEGAR – EBC (5200m), 350km, 7hrs. (B) Attractions; Rongbuk monastery and Mt. Everest base camp.

Stop At: Mt. Everest Base Camp, kathmandu, Thamel, Tingri County 858200 China
Today we will drive straight to EBC, crossing several passes along the way. Prepare yourself for your first view of the Himalayans at Gyatso La Pass (5400 m). You can actually see Mt. Everest in the distance from the viewing point at the pass.

Few kilometers after the border check point, we’ll turn off the Friendship Highway and zig-zag our way up to Gawu La Pass (5250 m), a great spot for a view of all the Himalayan Range’s mountains above 8000 meters. From left to right you will see Mt. Makalu (8463 m), Mt. Lotse (8516 m), Mt. Everest (8844 m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8201 m) and Mt. Shishapama (8020 m).After arriving at Everest Base Camp, we’ll settle into the tent guesthouse. The Rongbuk monastery houses both monks and nuns and is the highest monastery in the world.

In the afternoon you have the option to do a short trek from the tent guesthouses community to the actual Everest Base Camp. It will take you about 2 hours or more depending on your physical condition (6 km), or you can take the dedicated minibus instead.

We’ll stay overnight in these tents unless you’re there between November and March, when the tent guesthouses close and only Rongbuk Monastery guesthouse is available.

Day 7: RONGBUK (5000m) - OLD TINGRI (4390m) – KYIRONG (1800m) Attractions: Peikutso Lake.

Stop At: Peikucuo Lake, Cha'na Country, Nyalam County 858300 China
As we awake the next morning, a striking view of luminous peaks is highlighted by the sun and it is bittersweet to say goodbye to this landscape that we have gotten to know so well. Next, we will drive south to Nepal and traverse the Thongla pass. Then drive along the Peikutso lake with a great view of the Mt Shishapama, gradually descend into Kyirong valley with a series of switchback bends, the dry climate changes into a warm, moist environment and it is clear that we drawing into the Indian subcontinent. Our destination is Tibet border town Kyirong which is just opened border for travelers, because the previously Zhangmu border was closed after the deadly Nepal earthquake in April 2015. Overnight in Kyirong

Day 8: KYIRONG (2300m) - ENTER INTO NEPAL. TRIP ENDS

Stop At: Langtang Valley, 123 Ba, Langtang National Park 44600 Nepal
Today we drive down to the friendship bridge and our guide will help you to clear the China Customs, from there our Tibetan staffs are not allow stepping further and time to say your farewells. Before your departure, we will appreciate if you can spend a short time to evaluate our services either by filling the feedback form or simply send us an email. When you crossed the bridge you will get into Nepal and Nepal visa can be obtained at the arrival by paying USD25 for 15 days tourist visa. Then you can easily find jeeps and buses from the Nepalese border town to Kathmandu city, it is 130km from the border to Kathmandu city and you will passing through the Langtang national park.

  • On this tour, you will travel to demanding altitudes of approximately 11,975 feet (3,650 meters) above sea level in Lhasa, up to 16,404 feet (5,000 meters) above sea level at Everest Base Camp and over mountain passes of up to 17,060 feet (5,200 meters) above sea level when traveling between locations; it is common for travelers to experience adverse health effects due to this altitude, regardless of age, gender and fitness; it is highly recommended that you discuss this trip with your doctor prior to departure, and begin a regular exercise regimen in the weeks leading up to your trip
  • Rest breaks are available at any time throughout the tour if you find the walking to be too strenuous due to the elevation
  • After booking, the local tour operator will send you a packing list and other general information to help you prepare for your trip. You may also request more information about tips and prevention methods for altitude sickness
  • Be prepared for very cold weather; pack warm layers appropriately
  • In warm weather, please dress conservatively; shoulders and knees must be covered

  • At Everest Base Camp, the tent guesthouses usually reuse blankets for a few weeks at a time due to the limited washing facilities; you may bring your own sleeping bag for the guesthouse, if you wish; sleeping bags can also be purchased in Lhasa or in mainland China before your tour

  • Passport name, number, expiration date and country are required at time of booking for all participants
  • A current valid passport and visa is required on the day of travel
  • Tibet tours must be booked at least 25 days in advance; upon booking, clear copies of all travelers' passports and Chinese visas must immediately be sent to the local tour operator in order to apply for and obtain your Tibet travel permit in time for your tour
  • Please note that if your Chinese visa is not an 'L' tourist visa, then you need to provide supplementary letters from your sponsored organization; please contact the local operator for more details
  • If you're flying into Tibet from mainland China: You need the original copy of the Tibet travel permit that the local tour operator will send to your hotel in mainland China. Therefore, please provide your hotel details (name, address and contact numbers) and your hotel reservation number. If you are not staying at a hotel and have a connection flight to Tibet from mainland China, please provide detailed flight information so the local operator can arrange someone from the tour company to deliver your permit to you at the airport in China when you arrive
  • If you're taking a train to Tibet from mainland China: You will only need a printed copy of the Tibet permit, which you will receive from the local operator via email
  • If you fly into Tibet from Kathmandu, Nepal: You don’t need to have a Chinese visa, but you do need a Tibet Group Visa (same as a Chinese visa) from the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. When you send the copy of your passport to the local tour operator after booking, the staff will help you to get the Tibet Group Visa. The Tibet Group Visa fee is not included in the tour price, so you will be asked to pay at the embassy. Please keep in mind that even if you have a Chinese visa, if you enter Tibet from Nepal, it is required that you have the Tibet Group Visa. Please be advised that when you apply for the Tibet Group Visa, the Chinese Embassy will cancel your current visa. You can only apply for the Tibet Group Visa through a local Nepalese agent, so this tour operator's local agent in Nepal will help you obtain it
