About this activity
Starting with a Lhasa hotel pickup in the morning, the tour guide will lead the way along the Yarlung Tsang (Brahmaputra River), the Sand Mountain, the high mountain meadow, and the wide rivers en route to the Samye Monastery.

The Samye Monastery is Tibet’s first Buddhist monastery, built in the 8th century. It is the first monastery to have three Buddhist jewels of Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. With these unique features, this splendid temple has become an attraction for visitors both at home and abroad.

Samye Monastery is located on the north bank of the Yarlung Tsanpo River of Zharang County. It is know as the first temple in Tibet commissioned by King Trisong Detsen. The monastery combines Chinese, Tibetan, and Indian architectural styles. The layout was designed completely according to the ideal universe found in Buddhist scriptures.

The tour ends with a return trip to Lhasa.
