About this activity
Your private 6-day tour starts with a flight from Chengdu to Lhasa. A private vehicle with driver, all meals, accommodation and return flight to Chengdu are included. Your local Tibetan guide provides personalized attention and informative commentary throughout your Tibet experience.

You'll stay overnight in Lhasa and Shigatse at 3-star (or better) hotels, and spend one night in a hostel near Nam-tso Lake. No need to worry about getting your Tibetan travel permit, either — simply provide your Chinese entry visa and passport after booking, and your guide handles the permits.

  • Confirmation will be received within 48 hours of booking, subject to availability
  • On this tour, you will experience demanding altitudes of approximately 11,975 feet (3,650 meters) above sea level in Lhasa and 15,479 feet (4,718 meters) at Nam-tso Lake; it is common for travelers to experience adverse health effects due to this altitude, regardless of age, gender and fitness; it is highly recommended that you discuss this trip with your doctor prior to departure, and begin a regular exercise regimen in the weeks leading up to your trip
  • Be prepared for very cold weather, especially at Nam-tso Lake; pack warm layers appropriately, and perhaps bring your own sleeping bag
  • In warm weather, please dress conservatively; shoulders and knees must be covered
  • Domestic airlines in China typically allow one free checked bag up to 44 lbs (20 kg) and one free carry-on bag, but please check the luggage restrictions of the airline you are flying before traveling
  • No strenuous hiking is involved on this tour, but some walking is required around town and through the sites; due to the high elevation, some people find the walking to be moderately strenuous, but rest is possible and available at any time throughout the trip
  • Tour is not wheelchair accessible
  • Minimum age is 2 years old
  • Passport name, number, expiration date and country are required at time of booking for all participants
  • A current valid passport, Tibet travel permit and Chinese visa are all required on the day of travel
  • The local tour operator will help you obtain your Tibet travel permit
  • If you do not already have a Chinese visa, you must get one before the local tour operator can start the process of getting your Tibet travel permit; to obtain a Chinese visa, you will need an 'invitation letter,' which the tour operator can give you
  • If you have a Chinese visa, your booking must be made at least 20 days in advance of the travel date; upon booking, contact the tour operator immediately so they can start the process of obtaining your Tibet travel permit and flights
  • If you do not yet have a Chinese visa, your booking must be made at least 30 days in advance of the travel date so there is enough time for you to obtain your Chinese visa before the tour operator can start the process of getting your Tibet travel permit
  • Please note: If you already have a Chinese visa but it's not an 'L' tourist visa, then you need to provide supplementary letters from your sponsored organization; please contact the local operator for more details
  • The tour guide will have your Tibet travel permit when you are picked up at your Chengdu hotel on Day 1
  • If you are not staying at a Chengdu hotel and instead will be flying into the Chengdu airport on the morning of Day 1, please coordinate your flights with the tour operator so you do not miss your flight to Lhasa; the tour operator will also arrange for a staff representative to deliver your Tibet travel permit to you at the Chengdu airport when you arrive
  • Single room or double room accommodation will be chosen at checkout. If a group with an odd number of people chooses double room accommodation, one person will stay in a single room and the extra single room price will be included in the overall price of the tour
