About this activity
After being picked up from your Liberia hotel, set out over the border to Nicaragua.
The first stop of the day is in Granada, where you will enjoy a guided tour of the city, admiring its colonial architecture, historic churches, and beautiful cathedral. After some free time to explore and lunch (included) at a local restaurant, continue to the nearby Nicaragua Lake, a natural wonder just minutes from the city.
Explore the lake's islands and soak up the scenery on a boat cruise, learning more about the region's unique volcanic topography. Continue to the Masaya Volcano National Park, where you can admire the Masaya Volcano and visit the Masaya handicraft market to shop for souvenirs.
On return to Costa Rica, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

Highly recommended.. I took the trip with my wife and we had some issues returning back to Costa Rica at the border due to the multiple entry visa limitations. The kind of support that these guys provided went above and beyond anything I have had. The tour in itself was simply amazing with Masaya volcano lava lake being the best sight ever! But the support and assurance they provided after was unprecedented in our 14 country travels! A big huge thanks and kudos to the guys who run the show like the back of their hand!!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

A very compressed tour, there are a number of places that have visited in addition to the program. Good food. This region of Nicaragua is worth a visit! Granada is a beautiful colonial city But a very irresponsible pick-up. They waited almost an hour

First off, you get your money's worth on this one! This was easily a 20 hour excursion! We got picked up from our hotel at 6am, and didn't get home till past midnight. It was so worth it though. Nicarague is a beautiful country, and seeing the ACTIVE volcano was so cool! We got to walk right up to the crater and could seeing the glowing steam inside. The only way it would have been cooler would have been if it wasn't as cloudy so we could have actually seen the lava!

First, set your mind to the fact it is going to be a long day but you're going to see things that most never get the opportunity to see! The only thing that went wrong was that our trip was 21 hours. Traveling with a large group can present many challenges. In our case, one person got lost and returned to the bus very late and another had some issues with his passport at the border which took more time. Aside from these issues, seeing Nicaragua for the first time was a very memorable experience. The towns were vibrant and people very friendly! We got some great gifts for our family and friends. But the best part of this trip was going to Masaya Volcano National Park! Seeing lava flow dried up from the 1770s, seeing new volcanic mounds forming and then driving up to the LIVE Santiago crater! WOW! We saw lava deep inside. The tour guides were very knowledgeable. We also enjoyed boating over to Spider Monkey Island and watch my husband feed them! The weather was perfect and food delicious. Wish I could post pictures but they keep getting denied.

Great tour as long as you are prepared for a ling day. Picked up at hotel at 4AM and returned at midnight. Tour guide, Edwardo, was great. Saw beautiful sights throughout the trip. However, sometimes rushed so might need to omit one item. The shopping after lunch in Mesaya could have been shorten to allow more time in Grenada. I would recommend bathrooms on the buses and more time in Grenada. Boat ride was fun at the very end. Be prepared for 1.5 hours passing boarder both ways quicker returning.
