Huanano Falls Trekking and Rappelling Adventure from Lima

1 day
About this activity
After a morning hotel pickup or meeting your guide at a central location in Lima, you'll board a private vehicle and drive to San Jeronimo de Surco, just 2-hours from Lima. Upon arrival, start a 1-hour hike to Huanano falls. Once there, receive a briefing and all necessary equipment and start rappelling down the 30 meter waterfall. Control the rope with your hands and slowly release it, dodging obstacles and overcoming fear, to reach the mainland. During this time, your guide will be there supervising the entire activity and helping you. Once at the bottom, you can take a refreshing swim in the cold waters.
Afterward, go to Songos to enjoy the water slides. These are located minutes before reaching the district of San Jeronimo de Surco. The attraction of the place, as the name implies, is the rock formations creating these slides where low water flows. It is a journey of an hour and a half to the bed of the Lindsay stream.
There will be free time for lunch (at own expense) before heading back to the vehicle to drive back to Lima where your tour ends.

The tour itself and the guide were FANTASTIC! 5 stars for the tour and Marco Andreas, the guide. 2 stars off, b/c the office sent us an email saying that we must be ready for pickup at 5:30am sharp. This is not the pick up time Marco received, so we woke up 2 hours earlier than needed.

This tip was amazing!!! I booked this trip for my boyfriends birthday in August and it was definitely a day of fun and adventure. The only down side was the confirmation of the booking. I did not get confirmation until we arrived the night before in Lima. You have to call the local number in Lima of the Trekking/Rappelling Company. Which was a bit tricky as I was in the US until the day before the tour. I ended up having to call my hotel in Lima long distance and having them confirm the pick up. THIS WAS THE ONLY DOWN SIDE... everything else was great! Other than that the pick up was on-time in the morning. We were greeted by Pamela and Ivan. BOTH WERE AMAZING GUIDES!!! I consider myself to be adventurous but I tend to get a little scared during the initial decent of the rappelling. However, Ivan made me feel at ease with the whole thing. Pamela was amazing on the information and instruction. They both provided cultural history as well as facts about the nature that surrounded us. The first part of the day is rappelling then you head to Huanano Falls to begin the trekking. I still cannot decide which was my favorite part as they were both so much fun and filled with excitement. The tour dropped us back off at the hotel and when we arrived my boyfriend and I were worn out. In a great way We had dinner reservations at a nice restaurant however, we decided just to eat around the hotel because of our full day of adventure. I would definitely recommend this trip for those that want to get out of Lima for the day and want a great balance of adventure/ thrill while feeling totally safe and taken care of. Tips for the trip: Bring your own snacks and bring a change of clothes after the Huanano Falls. Thank you Pamela and Ivan! You made for a great birthday celebration!

Our tour was amazing! At first there were communication issues but I think that was more between the Viatour confirmation and communication with Mundo Aventura Travel. We didn't get a confirmation if we were being picked up at the location we were staying or at the meeting spot. After waiting at the intersection for an hour we took a cab back to our home and it turns out Pamela and Warren were there waiting for us! Once we got going the day trip went beyond any expectations. It began with a 30 minute hike to Huanano Falls to repel. After repelling we went on another 45ish minute hike to Songo Falls were we slid down a natural water slide! Afterwards we headed back to Lima 2 hour drive and we were dropped off at our home-stay. Definitely pack snacks, granola bars/fruit for lunch, a water bottle, change of clothes if you want to change for the drive home. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty! You will get wet, head to toe! I personally wore tennis shoes I could toss afterwards because they were full of water and sand. Pamela and Warren were amazing guides and were so much fun to spend the day with. They were full of smiles and made sure we felt comfortable and safe the whole time. If you are looking for an adrenaline rush and want to explore like a local. This is a trip for you. I would definitely recommend!!!!!!

We had an excellent time! I would highly recommend this tour for anyone seeking a little adventure, it was just enough! They picked us up from our hotel bright and early and we headed south of lima to have breakfast which was included and consisted of Coffee and a Peruvian Sandwich. We then went to Huanano Falls where we trekked up the mountain and then got ready to repel down. I went in a group of three girls and Wilson and Warren did a great job of calming our fears and taking time to let us Repel for a second time. We then headed to another location where we hiked up water falls to get to the natural slides. The day was so much fun! Wilson speaks awesome english and did a wonderful job explaining details about the environment and local culture. Warren made us feel super safe and we could tell he was experienced in trekking. For anyone looking to do something fun in Peru you should totally do this! However, I would say bring plenty of snacks and water, shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty or wet and a good sense of humor! An added touch is that they take pictures for you on the Trek and then email them after!
