Our guide was excellent and well informed. The tour programme was well worked out, giving time for the main attraction, Pena Palace and the centre of town. Unfortunately, the notorious, mid winter Lisbon sea fog had spread into the mountains around Sintra, making it almost impossible to see anything of the exterior of Pena Palace - mysterious, even spooky but ultimately disappointing to miss appreciating this extraordinary architectural fantasy. The tour ended in Cascais, a lovely and lively seaside town to west of Lisbon. The time here was not enough for more than a swift introduction and a mental note to come back and stay for a few days.
