About this activity
This tour starts at the Cais do Sodré River Station. The boat is full of color and hand-painted flowers that offers a touch of charm and authenticity. Only seven boats of this size remain, all of them inscribed in the Navy Museum, which makes this tour quite unique.

As soon as you depart, you'll discover the amazing waterfront area between Praça do Comércio and Cais do Sodré, and Ribeira das Naus where many of the Portuguese explorers' ships were built. This area was redeveloped in 2013, and towards the back stands an 18th century pink building that still hosts the navy. Next is the Commerce Square (Praça do Comércio), the largest square in Lisbon and also one of the most iconic symbols of the city. It was rebuilt after the great earthquake of 1755.

Along the way, while slowly navigating the Tagus waters, you will have the opportunity to admire the most amazing monuments and buildings of the city:

Look out for the following: Castelo de São Jorge (St. George;s Castle), a Moorish castle occupying a commanding hilltop overlooking the historic center; Lisbon Cathedral (Se de Lisboa) is a Roman Catholic Church; it's the oldest church in the city built in 114; Alfama is the oldest district of Lisbon; Church of Santa Engrácia is a 17th-century monument. Originally a church and in the 20th century it was converted into the National Pantheon; Christ the King is a Catholic monument, erected in 1959 to express gratitude because the Portuguese were spared the effects of World War II; he 25th of April Bridge;

See two, Belém, home to two unique monuments: Mosteiro dos Jerónimos and Belém Tower (Torre de Belem), both World Heritage Sites. They are two jewels of the Gothic Manueline style that easily impress. Marvel at Padrão dos Descobrimentos is a monument located along the river where ships departed to explore and trade with India and Orient. The monument celebrates the Portuguese Age of Discovery (or Age of Exploration) during the 15th and 16th centuries.

The tour returns to the Cais do Sodré River Station 1 hour and 45 minutes later.
