Private Shore Excursion: Discover Umbria and Tuscany

Theprivate tour will start with pickup from the port of Livorno, with a suggested pickup time of 8 am to maximize the day.

An English-speaking driver with a private minivan will be waiting for you outside the ship, holding a sign with your name on it to be easily recognized. Your driver will stay with you for the duration of the tour.

The stops you’ll be able to do during your tour will be to visit
• Assisi
• Cortona

If you wish, you have the option to include a local private licensed guide in Assisi and Cortona for an additional fee (availables in English or Spanish).

Assisi:

It was the birthplace of St. Francis, who founded the Franciscan religious order in the town in 1208, and St. Clare, the founder of the Poor Sisters. Nowadays Assisi is a popular destination not only for religious tours, but also for the history that the city has witnessed during the centuries. The

Basilica of San Francesco d’Assisi is the most important site to visit while in town together with the

Basilica of St. Clare and the

Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli.

Wine Tasting and Light Lunch (included):

The Farm is located in Umbria, at the feet of the basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi. Here the owner's family produces its wines and its extra vergine olive oil.

Cortona:

Cortona is a very small medieval town located in the countryside of

Tuscany. The original town is dated to an era that precedes the

Etruscan conquest, but the appearance that the city has nowadays was gained several centuries later. The town, located hillside, offers a wonderful view of the surrounding areas, including a good view of

Lake Trasimeno.

At the end of the 9-hour tour the driver will take you back to the port of Livorno, leaving you outside your ship.
