Disembark at Livorno port and meet our English speaking driver guide at about 9:00am (pick up time will be customized according with your cruise schedule): are you ready the visit one of most beautiful Italian town and its renowned top wine-producing Chiantishire?
Discover the Tuscan wine region of Chianti on a 8/9-hours scenic tour! The drive itself is magnificent: enjoy the view of Chianti hills covered by vineyards and olives trees, with the cypresses that became soon familiar.
But first of all, you will stop in Siena, probably Italy's loveliest medieval city. Its heart is the central "piazza" (square) known as Il Campo. The Piazza del Campo is the site of the famous Palio delle Contrade horse race that takes place twice a year and whose origin dates back to the 14th or 13th century. You can see the Gothic, imposing S. Domenico Church where some of Italy's most important frescos are held and maintained. This square is one of the most beautiful tour destination in Europe.
At lunch time, together with your experienced Driver-Guide you will choose if stopping at one of many traditional “trattoria” in Siena surroundings or to go deep in the Chianti countryside and stop at a local farmhouse: in both cases, you will enjoy a real Tuscan lunch paired with the delicious wines produced in the region. You cannot miss, at the end of the lunch, to experience a glass of the famous Vinsanto (“holy wine”, a sweet dessert-wine) that always comes together with a few Cantuccini almond biscuits: after dipping your Cantuccini in the Vinsanto, you will learn why this is the most beloved dessert in Tuscany!
In case of lunch in Siena, you'll be afterwards driven to a traditional Chianti estate: enjoy a tour of the wine cellars, to gain an insight into the various stages of wine production, take a sit and taste the various wines that the winery produces, paired with appetizers, local cheese and often bruschetta and salami.
In the afternoon, drive back to Livorno port on time to get back on your cruise.
