About this activity

Between 2:30pm and 3:30pm you will be picked up by the guide from your hotel in one of the following cities:
Bari, Conversano, Polignano, Putignano, Monopoli, Fasano, Alberobello, Locorotondo.

We suggest you to have a relaxing morning, since you will return at around midnight and have a summer jacket or a light sweater with you for the evening.

The private transportation can last from 1 to 1.5 hour depending on traffic and distance from your accommodation.

In Martina Franca you will enjoy the elegant and noble town through a guided walking tour (1.5-hour), showing palaces and churches in richness Baroque style.

Afterwards you will have a light meal (e.g. sandwich and dessert) and a soft drink in the old town, to relax before to go to the open-air theater in Palazzo Ducale.

At around 8pm you will enter in the theater and take one of the first balcony seat. The 42nd Festival della Valle d'Itria is a Summer Ritual for Opera fans as well as for everyone, who likes the Italian Culture. The program of the Festival is bringing various versions of operatic theatre in both classical and original forms, re-proposing repertoires and musical performances that are often no longer played. The performances take place in marvelous historical places like the court of Palazzo Ducale, a wonderful open-air location for Italian Opera.

You can chose one of the following performances:

Francesca da Rimini
This is the main Opera of this festival edition; the two acts were composed 1831 by Saverio Mercadante, but never played before: it will be a great surprise for the audience.

La Grotta di Trofonio
Two acts Opera composed 1785 by Giovanni Paisiello, libretto by Giuseppe Palomba from Giovanni Battista Casti; this Opera is co-produced with the Teatro di San Carlo Foundation of Naples.

When the Opera is finished, you will return to your hotel by the same private transportation.
