Itinerary

Stop At: Hackney Wick Arts Club, Unit 6, Hamlet Industrial Estate, 96 White Post Ln, Hackney Wick, London E9 5EN, UK
As soon as you arrive you’ll discover the beautifully renovated Hackney Wick Station – a chance to see modern development colliding with the grit of a cultural, artistic and industrial sanctuary. We’ll stop to see and learn about local street artists; whose distinct markings to look for, as well as some of the contentious issues that locals have with authorities. Pass through old industrial buildings rich in heritage and a place for firsts – plastic was invented right here in Hackney Wick! Get a chance to see local exhibitions and have a snack at Stour Space; London’s first ever art centre to be listed as an asset of community value (Localism Act 2011). Pass by Truman’s Brewery (and stop for a pint, depending on the day!) and even check out one or two artists at work at one of the 600+ studios in Hackney Wick. Check out the houseboats along the Canal, and step inside Barge East – a ship-turned-restaurant with a quirky past! Finally, see the remnants of the art left behind after the Olympic Games.
