Your guide will meet you at a designated central location.
Walk in the footsteps of the rich and powerful. You'll be introduced to the personalities who ruled Great Britain, from Edward the Confessor to Thersea May. You will be taken to see where they lived, worked and played, as well as where many are entombed today.
Start by visiting one of the most well known landmarks in the world, Big Ben and explore the political and social heart of London. Get your camera ready to take pictures of The Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. Hear stories of treason, Royal weddings and the political system.
Make your way through one of the most beautiful parks in central London- St James, with its lake and wildlife to keep you entertained. Once you step out of the park you will see Buckingham Palace and St James Palace. Arrive in time for the impressive Changing of The Guard, something no tourist should miss.
Next the tour will make its way to Trafalgar Square where you will see and learn of one of the greatest Naval leaders this country has seen- Admiral Horatio Nelson. At this point there will be time for a short break in an area renowned for street entertainers and world class restaurants and great street food. Possibly head into Soho home to little Italy, and cuisine from around the world. Ask your guide for a suggestion or where the best coffee is found (own expense).
Board one of the famous red London buses (own expense) and pass by the Bankers and lawyers and hop off at the centre of the financial city where St Paul's Cathedral stands.Stroll down the beautiful South bank river passing by William Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Tate Modern, St Paul's Cathedral, The Shard and the greatest food market London has to offer, Borough Market. Here you can treat yourself to great coffee, wine, locally crafted beer or cake (own expense).
Cross the famous London Bridge where there will be a photo opportunity of the most famous bridge in the world, Tower Bridge. Once across, arrive at the 11th century Tower of London where the Crown Jewels are kept and home of the Yeomen Warders or more commonly known as Beefeaters. A place built as a fortress to protect London and England. It is here that the tour will end, your guide will answer any questions and direct you to where you want to go.

Our guide was nice but not overwhelmingly knowledgeable of facts. Felt he was not a trained guide. Many questions couldn’t be answered and we saw nice things.
My private guide was James and he was so adept in London's history. Aside from the fun stuff of seeing London's iconic landmarks, the history part of London's king and queens and many others were informative. James asked me if I wanted to visit a pub and restaurant, and we both went to a local pub, me acting ling a local, and a steak restaurant that fulfilled my gastronomic desires. I would recommend this private full day London trip. This would give you the knowledge like a local and go on your own on the succeeding days. The best part was viewing the changing of the guards.
The private tour was worth the extra money spent. My wife and I were given royal treatment by James. He took really good care of us and on our day it rained and he came with umbrellas. Who does that? Wow? I also asked him to help with Dr. WHO and Pokemon stuff and he took us to the right place. We paid a premium for this tour and it was well worth it. On top of that James is well connected. He spoke with many government officials during our tour and we got very special treatment b/c of his contacts. When we return we will pay premium for Windsor Castle tour. James is a superstar!

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour with James! We have done many walking tours in several cities through Viator, and this was one of the very best. James a historian related many historical events and stories that we being Americans did not know of. We did this tour shortly after our arrival in London, which worked perfectly because we were able to discern which places we wanted to return to to learn more on our own. Two highlights in particular were our visits to the establishments James J. Fox and James Locke and Co., both places with rich histories that we would not have thought to visit on our own. One thing to note about this tour: you will not visit the interiors of most places on the tour, but you will definitely know which places you will want to go back and see on your own.
James was amazing. Not the tour we thought we ordered, but it was even better. Best guide ever. We learned so much. Full day turned into 9 hours and 14 miles of walking. Sore feet, but worth every step.
