Itinerary

Day 1: London - Dublin

Pass By: Railtours Ireland First Class, 16 Amiens St, Mountjoy, Dublin 1, Ireland
The trip commences at London Euston station, where you will be met by your guide and escorted onto your direct express train bound for Holyhead in Wales.

Your train, complete with onboard toilets and a shop, will speed through the beautiful countryside of England and Wales to reach Holyhead in just four hours.

Upon arrival into Holyhead's port station, you'll immediately board the Ulysses cruise-ferry for an invigorating 3.5-hour voyage across the Irish Sea to Dublin.

Facilities on the ship include a range of restaurants and bars, a 2-screen cinema, and a traditional promenade deck, from where you can enjoy the fresh sea air.

The ship arrives into Dublin Port in the early evening, and you'll be transferred directly to your 3-star hotel in Dublin City Centre for a 2-night stay or longer depending on tour option selected.

The evening and the next day(s) are yours to enjoy. Visit the world-renown Guinness Storehouse, retrace the footsteps of Molly Malone, or even take a rail tour out into the Irish countryside. The choice is yours.

At the end of a memorable visit to Ireland, you'll be transferred back to Dublin Port for the return crossing to Holyhead, where your train will be waiting to transport you through Wales and back to London.

Enjoyed for the most part. Train booking did not give assigned seats even though most seats where reserved which caused us to have to change seats as people arrived...I checked to reserve seats for return and was told that our tickets where not changeable. Hotel needs to be upgradeable, we where placed in an converted extension to the hotel over an Irish Pub on a Saturday night with no air conditioning windows open, so you can see where this is going. Elevator to floor then up and down stairs to get to the room with luggage. Not fun!

If people loves the train and ferry, this is a good option. Two days of that seem a bit wasteful of time out of five days. Dublin itself is a really great city. Our hotel is very well located but unfortunately a bit tired and not ready for hot summer days.

Everything was OK, except the fact that we had no reserved seats on the train and it was very crowded on the way back.

Pros: The booking through Viator was easy, the tour company were professional and knowledgeable, the travel from London to Dublin via rail and ferry was fun and relaxing, and the hotel in Dublin was clean and in a good location. Cons: We expected to be traveling with other people but we were on our own; the travel time was long; once we got to the hotel we had to come up with our own itinerary on what to do in Dublin. This is a great tour for people who only have a few days of travel, like a relaxing journey, and want to get a quick taste of Dublin. I recommend the Hop-on/Hop-off day tour in Dublin once you get there to get a overview of the city. Everyone we met in Dublin was very friendly and helpful so ask around for local adventures. We really enjoyed this tour because we were able to set our own pace and agenda while using the travel time to relax.

Loved the train ride and the Ferry was amazing. The only down side was the location of the hotel, next to the bus station made for a little bit of noise at night, other than that the hotel was nice.. Overall, railtours was helpful, polite and went out of their way to make our trip enjoyable.
