Taking the train to Paris is such a civilized way to travel. We had upgraded to standard premier and were in a separate car and served breakfast. The ride was pleasant and went quickly. Met Francoise in Paris and boarded the bus. Saw the highlights and then arrived at the Eiffel Tower. We had lunch at the tower. It was a set menu and it was served all at once. Server explained it's a picnic. Lunch was ok. Went to the Louvre where we had 2 hours on our own. On the way back to London we were served dinner to include wine. An enjoyable day all around.

This could have easily been a five star trip, except for: Everything about this trip was wonderful till we actually met up with our guide in Paris. I could have talked more about France and Paris than our guide and I had never been there before. Our bus driver was great, threading his way through traffic. However, we began our journey from the train station by inching along the front of an outdoor market that we were told was full of pickpockets and thieves. Then, we made a U turn to drive behind the same market and hear the same commentary. That took the first 45 minutes of our day in Paris. Then, mostly in silence, we traveled through one of the great cities of the world. The destinations - Eiffel Tower and the Louvre were wonderful! At the end of our time, our guide actually spent moments telling us about other cities he had visited as if to say they were all superior to Paris. Except for the guide, it was a wonderful day all, in all. I only give it a one because of the pitiful tour guide.

Our tour contact was 1/2 hour late to register us and we had to literally run to the train after clearing security, 4 people in our tour did not make the train. Our guide Michael was knowledgeable, friendly and did a great job of dealing with a very difficult situation. Great trip otherwise.
