Step through the pillared portico and right into The Queen’s Gallery. This public art gallery is part of Buckingham Palace and thus a pretty special place to view some (royally approved) artwork! Right now you can see a spectacular selection of 18th-century Venetian art by one of Venice's most famous painters in the current exhibition: Canaletto & the Art of Venice (until 12 November 2017).
The Royal Collection is home to the world's finest group of paintings, drawings, and prints by Canaletto (1697-1768). This exhibition presents a spectacular selection of 18th century Venetian art, with Canaletto’s greatest works shown alongside paintings and drawings by his contemporaries.
From 8 December 2017, the next exhibition: Charles II: Art & Power will contain John Michael Wright's monumental portrait of Charles II in his coronation robes and a glittering silver-gilt plate which adorned the high-altar of Westminster Abbey during the King's coronation, to old master paintings, tapestries and spectacular silver-gilt furniture, the exhibition shows the rich material world of Charles II's court and the role of the arts in the re-establishment of the Stuart monarchy.
