About this activity
Board a double-decker bus in central London and drive 17 miles (27 km) northwest to the English borough of Hertfordshire. Arrive in the town of Watford, home to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, where you'll witness the legendary Harry Potter film series come to life.

Set off independently to explore the real sets used in these iconic movies. Imagine walking side-by-side with Harry, Ron and Hermione as you explore the Great Hall, view Dumbledore's office and stroll down Diagon Alley, featuring the storefronts of Ollivanders wand shop, Flourish and Blotts, the Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, Gringotts Wizarding Bank and Eeylops Owl Emporium.

Admire the costumes and props used by Harry and his counterparts, and learn about the special effects and makeup that brought magical characters such as Dobby and the Death Eaters to life. Remember to bring your camera — there are exciting photo opportunities around every corner.

Cap your visit at Platform 9 ¾, where you can get a glimpse into how some the film’s most iconic scenes were created. Pose with a luggage trolley as it disappears through the platform wall, and get up close to the original Hogwarts Express steam engine. Marvel as steam billows from the 78-year-old engine and admire the platform’s glass roof, yellow brick walls and luggage racks.

On your drive back to London, sit back and reminisce on your fantastic day in the magical world of Harry Potter.

First- Golden Tours was a great option for us. It allowed us to stay in Central London to explore. We then met at a very easy location to find to jump on the double decker bus to the Harry Potter tour. The bus drops you off and then picks you up approx 4 hours later. This was plenty of time to experience the entire tour plus shopping and eating. Now- the Harry Potter tour. It was great! We absolutely loved it and is a must do for any Potter lover. You get to see so many really movie artifacts and there are a couple interaction portions (such as a magic fight with death eaters) for the kiddos. I recommend all around

Great tour! Mostly props, costumes, and recreations of scenes/rooms. The front half takes longer to go through so you can budget more than half your time on the front end and still finish the back-end in time to board the bus. Be warned that some of the items for sale at the store at the Hogwarts Express are NOT offered in the store at the end of the tour. The scale model of the school/castle takes up an entire room and is simply awesome.

We booked a family ticket with viator. 2 adults and 2 children. However when we got the tickets from the tour operator golden tours we were given infant tickets for our kids which are only valid for under 4s. We had to buy new tickets for the kids when we got to harry potter world. We only booked with Viator because they seemed cheaper than the others. We would not have gone for the full price had we known as it is a rip off. Of course it is impossible to find out how to complain to viator. I would not recommend booking with these people.

Trip itself is very nice, especially for the Harry Potter fans. Takes over an hour to get there and back with the London's traffic. However time passes by fast as the Harry Potter movie plays all the time. Downside of our trip was weather. It was close to 90 in Farenheit and the air conditioner on the bus could not cool down the second floor properly. Especially that affected as on the way back as we had to seat in the bus over 10 minutes with the engine off and no cooling whatsoever. I had to go and ask driver to start the bus and turn on air. However for some reason he did it only on the second request and than turn it off again in few minutes as we were still waiting for some passengers in the group. Just to be clear the temperature on the second floor of the bus was reaching above 100 degrees on Farenheit... Again - all this had nothing to do with the Studio itself but more curtacy from the driver would be nice. I understand people in London are not used to hot weather but still... Another comment is about food. There are two places to get it in the Studio: one right before you enter the exhibition and one like hall way through. We asked the person at the Information desk if they are the same. He said yes. So we decided to eat before entering the exhibition... WRONG! The cafeteria \ restaurant half way through the tour is much nicer, less crowded, Harry Potter themed, had Butterscotch ice cream and drinks, had nice view on Harry Potter's house and 3 level bus, etc. In my opinion this was the place to it - not the basic standard eatery in the main entrance hall... Otherwise everything else was great. Staff inside of the exhibition was very knowledgeable, going deep in the details on how prompts were designed and built, if you ask them. Kids loved Broom Stick flying green screen experience (kind of expensive after all as each poster or movie cost GBP 20 or 3 items for 50). Overall trip was nice and I would definitely recommend it if you are into the Harry Potter movies or just into the films production / behind the scene experiences.
