Meet the private local guide at your centrally located hotel and begin your Pilgrimage Guided Tour of Lourdes. Learn about the history of the Marian apparitions that happened to Saint Bernadette Soubirous during the 18th century. Your private guide will bring you to the main shrine of the Sanctuary, the Grotto as well as other important sites that built Lourdes' history. On 16 July 1858, Soubirous visited the grotto for the last time and said: "I have never seen her so beautiful before." On 18 January 1860, the local bishop declared: "The Virgin Mary did appear indeed to Bernadette Soubirous."
