Upon arrival at Luang Prabang International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel.

During your time here, visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun, the shrine of Wat Aham, Wat Mai, and then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi to see the sacred, gilded stupa and take in a panoramic view of the city and Mekong River at sunset. From there, explore the Night Market, where you can find a selection of textiles handmade by local and hill tribe people.

Day 2: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou – Luang Prabang (B)

After breakfast, enjoy a short guided sightseeing tour to the city’s oldest temple, Wat Sene, and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong, which represents classical Laotian architecture. Then embark on a cruise up the Mekong River for a view of the tranquil countryside and to explore the Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold-lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. Along the way, stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where local rice wine is made. Upon returning to Luang Prabang, take a short drive to Ban Phanom, a village known for its hand-weaving.

Day 3: Luang Prabang – Kuang Si waterfall (B)

An optional early start gives you the opportunity to experience the daily morning ritual of saffron-clad monks collecting alms (offerings) of sticky rice from residents.

From there, visit the morning Phosi Market, where you can see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea, and saltpeter among the typical chickens, vegetables, and hill tribe weavings. Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, and today you will visit nearby villages of Lao ethnic minority groups, Ban Ouay, a Hmong village, Ban Ou, a Laoloum village, and Ban Thapene, a Khmu village. Then drive to Kuang Si Falls to cool off with a swim in the turquoise pools or walk along the forest trails.

Returning to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon, visit Ban Xangkhong, a village known for its silk weaving and for saa (jute) paper making. You will return to the city by late evening to watch the sunset at Wat Siphouthabath.

Overnight: Hotel in Luang Prabang

Day 4: Luang Prabang (B)

After breakfast, visit the National Museum at the former royal palace, which features a collection of artifacts (closed on Tuesdays; if you are traveling on a Tuesday, you will instead visit the Arts and Ethnology Center, which provides further insight into the culture of Laos).

Visit the central market, and have free time to explore town and stroll around the shopping area. When your 4-day tour comes to an end, you will be transferred back to Luang Prabang International Airport for your onward journey.
