Overnight Khmu Village Homestay from Luang Prabang

DAY 01: Luang Prabang – Ban Chan - Khmu Village – Baci Ceremony (L/D)

Start our journey to a village of Khmu people nearby Luang Prabang in the morning by a tuk tuk. After crossing the legendary Mekong River by local ferry, we will continue going along dirt roads. Along the way, the images of daily life here will be nice topic for your pictures: Simple wooden houses, children playing around, and people at their farming work. We also visit Ban Chan Village where the technique of pottery making is worth learning. If you feel excited, you can try making a small pot by yourself.

Then we visit a Khmu family where we enjoy a local lunch served with traditional Laos dishes.

The afternoon visit will be at a organic garden. Here, you have chance to pick up some proper ingredients for dinner and learn about their name and their use in Lao cuisine. You can join the host to prepare dinner if you want.

Thanks to the knowledgeable guide, you will understand more about Khmu people’s traditions before attending a Baci ceremony which is believed to bring good luck to the people.

DAY 02: Khmu Village – Luang Prabang – Departure (B)

Waking up in the morning among the tranquil atmosphere of village, a nice traditional Lao breakfast will make your day more energetic. Transfer back to the bank of Mekong River with a stop to visit Wat Long Khun, which used to serve as a royal retreat center for spiritual revitalization. This is not a must-see destination of Luang Prabang classic tours but beloved by many tourist thanks to its quiet and peaceful atmosphere.

Cross the majestic Mekong River again by local ferry and say good bye to your host. We transfer you back Luang Prabang by tuk tuk. Meals on your own.
