Mt. Rigi - Day Pass Winter

Hop on the cogwheel train in Vitznau - which is also Europe's first mountain railway - that brings you right up to the top of Rigi Kulm, aka ‘Queen of the Mountains.’ Already the journey to the top will fill your eyes with countelss panoramic views overlooking lake Lucerne. Topping the Rigi mountain range at 5,899 feet (1,798 meters) in elevation, the summit boasts unbeatable views of the Swiss Plateau with the Bernese Alps, Vosges mountains, Black Forest and Glarus Alps beyond, and on foggy days, it offers sunny views over the sea of fog. Take a short stroll around the top of the mountain to immerse in the 360-degree panorama over countless lakes or just enjoy the sun and endless wide view on one of the many wellness benches. If you selected this tour, you are free in your time and can choose what you would like to do - e.g. embark on an easy and well prepared winter walking trail, rent a sledge or some snow shoes or grab lunch in one of the cozy restaurants (activities and food are your own expense).

When it’s time, the cogwheel train transports you down to the mountain resort of Rigi Kaltbad. From an altitude of 4,701 feet (1,433 meters), it’s the perfect vantage point over Lake Lucerne. Board the aerial cable car from here and drift down to the pretty lakeside town of Weggis. 

If you prefer to discover another coghweel train and route, you can also hop on the train into direction "Goldau", from where you have countless direct railway connections up to Zurich (37 min), Lucerne (28 min) or others.
