Meet guide in Luoyang hotel lobby at 8:30am and transfer to Longmen Grottoes which are along the banks of the Yi River, 13kms away from Luoyang. The grottoes were started around the year 493 when Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty moved the capital to Luoyang and were continuously built for 400 years until the Northern Song Dynasty. In November 2000, it was listed as World Culture Heritage by UNESCO. There are 2345 grottoes, 2800 tablets, 70 pagodas and over 100000 statues carved. Fengxian Temple is the essence of Longmen as it’s the largest open-air niche here.

You will visit White Horse Temple it is the first ancient Buddhist temple in China and located 12 kilometers east of Luoyang City. With the Buddhism been spreading into China, the temple was built by the government in AD 68 in Eastern Han Dynasty as the first official temple. And it has a history of more than 1900 years.
